Agreed. And they'll sure as heck never make a movie or have tons of other shows do nods to them as Firefly has :P

Dont worry, defiance will have fanboys and girls too. Also since you can tell the future so well, what are the winning lottery numbers for this week? I could use some extra cash

Lots of shows get cancelled for different reasons. The original Star trek was cancelled and they refused to ever make it as a show again, but it became a motion picture and STILL has a huge following. However it was cancelled as a show because very few people watched it, just like Firefly. The fact that people didn't start watching it until it's reruns were everywhere and it was released cheaply on dvd does NOT change the fact that NONE of it's current fans watched it when it was originally aired. They cancel great shows all the time because of low ratings. That will never change.

That said, you like Firefly, but not all do or did. I found it full of stupid, juvenile, cliched, humor and think The show was boring and a little stupid, even if I ignored the lame jokes and bad puns.

We all have our own opinions, witch is why there are all kinds of stipulations and regulations to decide if a show should stay on or not.

C'mon, do we need to respond to that? Stay on topic and find the words to join the discussion.

Agreed, probably why it was cancelled. Joss Whedon did Alien: Resurrection as well which I thought didn't really fit either (still liked it). He did a great job on The Avengers though.

Ah well, Defiance is a go for season 2, maybe even 3 if Syfy doesn't pull the plug
Signed off. See you with the next DLC.

Firefly worked because it was the rare occurrence of a group of actors and actresses that not only worked well together, playing off each other quite nicely, but also could tolerate each other (with rumors that they actually enjoyed working together!)

Firefly flopped because... Was it ever even advertised?

There was clearly a market interested in the show. It was a failing of the network and not the show itself that said market wasn't made aware of the show until it was too late.

Of course, a network is never going to openly admit that it was their fault a show failed. So they refuse to green-light new seasons and hold a death-grip on the IP so that no one else can either.

Yes, I adamantly disagree with the removal of key codes from all emergencies.

I reserve the right to take personal offense at anyone who disagrees with me, because I find blatant stupidity offensive.

It not only wasn't advertised, the network kept changing the time slot unannounced. On top of that they didn't even show the episodes sequentially (the pilot was the third show aired - seriously wtf? You actually have to try to fail that hard as a TV executive). I don't think there's a show that ever existed that could have survived it's first season handled the way Firefly was handled.

I agree. I believe that is why it has the following that it now does. Despite the network trying to kill it, it survived for that long and even had a movie made.

I hope so, I need to get my money back for the full price ultimate edition someway or another. My best bet now is time and an underground following...

Julie Benz over Jaime Murray? Really? Well, I'm also a scifi-fan to boot, so Firefly was easy.

Defiance is not the best show in the world, but suprisingly the best scifi aired atm.

Funny thing, I just noticed both played in Dexter..

Edit: Just to be clear, I enjoyed Firefly's plot. It wasn't BSG, but still very likable. Beautiful actresses aren't everything. For example, I didn't like Dollhouse, but I did like Dark Angel.

I for one am really enjoying the show and lore the game adds to the Defiance universe.

On a side note a lot of things did happen out of Joss Whedons control when he made Alien Resurrection. The director made changes too it, some I feel ruined references to other stories in the Alien Predator Prometheus universe. One major one was showing that Earth was heavily screwed up. The reason it was was because of the Xenomorph invasion in Aliens Outbreak, Aliens Female Wars, and AvP Cap Arcade that heavily screwed up the Earth and nearly wiped out all the people on Earth. A lot of the European nations and Asian are permanently gone because all those people died, so now their colonies on other planets are stranded. The only reference we have to this event now is only in the Alien Resurrection Directors cut, it shows France and it looks as bad.
