The fact that people didn't start watching it until it's reruns were everywhere and it was released cheaply on dvd does NOT change the fact that NONE of it's current fans watched it when it was originally aired. They cancel great shows all the time because of low ratings. That will never change.

That said, you like Firefly, but not all do or did. I found it full of stupid, juvenile, cliched, humor and think The show was boring and a little stupid, even if I ignored the lame jokes and bad puns.

We all have our own opinions, witch is why there are all kinds of stipulations and regulations to decide if a show should stay on or not.
One of the reasons for the cancellation (as stated by Joss, and others) was the intentional mismanagement by the new production company execs.
The pilot episode was never shown.
The show had little advertisement as to when it was on.
The show's time slot and day was shifted almost every week, usually with little notice.
They were failed by the owners. The show itself didn't fail on it's own (lack of ) merit.

The show was greenlighted by the previous executive staff, and when the administration changed the new guys swept it out so it wouldn't be artistic competition with their own pet projects. It's a common way of doing business in many industries.

Can't have the guy you're replacing look like he was doing a good job after-all, while you're trying to compete with his legacy.

Pretty much the same reason a lion will kill the cubs of the previous leader of the pride. The previous leaders projects aren't supposed to be around to compete with the current leaders projects.

And Julie was cuter in Dexter, before she whizzed away all that money on plastic surgery.
    These are just my opinions.
    I have lots of opinions.
Some of them, on occasion, people have agreed with.
I do not trust those people.

Agreed, probably why it was cancelled. Joss Whedon did Alien: Resurrection as well which I thought didn't really fit either (still liked it). He did a great job on The Avengers though.

Ah well, Defiance is a go for season 2, maybe even 3 if Syfy doesn't pull the plug
yes, you need to respond to that. "find the words to join the discussion" I did join the discussion, obviously, when I said firefly got cancelled. Then crybabies started crying and predicting the future so I made a joke. Quit crying. I'm not going to go scour the internet for random facts about a stupid and boring tv show I dont watch or care for to copy and paste it here like most of you more than likely are.

Whatever the reason as to why firefly was cancelled, I still consider it one of the greatest sins ever committed in the entertainment industry.

You can join the discussion just fine without insulting people. But that's just me. Also, if you think Firefly is so stupid and boring, do you even watch Defiance? That isn't GoT either..

Anyway, I made my point a long time ago. The contest to add a player name tag isn't impressive and I would like to see more. Does that make me a crybaby?

    Doubt it.
Signed off. See you with the next DLC.
