I'm not particularly saying that it is useless since it's helped me. I find that you may run into situations where you do happen to get hit by a grenade or missile in the back from the tanks, the ones that fire three shots in succession, I can't move because they keep tagging me and staggering me until they stop firing.

Next time you get a npc in your face try using the F (melee) key instead of trying to shoot them. I was very surprised by how effective it is. It's so good that I even started chasing some of them around. I discovered this when I ran completely out of ammo! The npc's have glass jaws.

Also discovered that if I ran back fast enough after dieing then I could whittle a pack of them down solo. Seemed they would respawn if I didn't get at least one kill in in during a death run, but not if I did kill one. This worked pretty good with the 'fix the radio station' quest where lots of npc's were in a small area. Took a while but I was able to do the entire line solo. In open areas pressing the 1 key a second time would let me swap places with my decoy, letting me 'aim' for where I wanted to 'teleport' to - the decoy goes in the direction I face.

The npc's are good shots, better than me (so far, this is my 1st shooter). But crouching helps when using cover! It helps a little even in the open. Crouching works like a toggle, can even move and shoot while crouched. I hid behind a guard rail across the street from some npc's and would pop out of crouch to get a quick shot off or toss a grenade, then crouch again to get my shield to restore or to reload ammo. Sowly picked off about 8 or 10 of them that way, including some on the roof of the building they were coming out of.

Made it to 50 EGO Rating before calling it good. I know that's not much but I was solo and it was my 1st time in a shooter, didn't even get out of training in the 4 hours I got to be in, but not really play in, Beta. Even my driving is getting better! I really enjoy this game so far, and no noticeable lag at all.

I think dodge rolls make myself harder to hit or maybe gets the AI confused but idk... I find myself hit a lot less after dodge rolling

OMG, after minimizing, my car was making odd noises so I went back in game to find this LOL

LOL You seem to be the sort to get in the mess of things.

I changed some controls around since c and ctrl made no sense. I changed a button for grenade to my mouse because I could stop opening the help window.

Maybe my BIGGEST problem is running and gunning. I'm glad this game is forcing me to slow down and smell the bullets. And yes, melee works WONDERS with the cleavers. It's just being swarmed with them and rioters is ...ughhh

The rocket launcher mutants are a real pita. Have to take those out first or you'll get scorched. The AI has great accuracy, but dumb as hell. They will run into funnel points as a group and follow you around a corner in single file. Two easy ways to cut them down. I fine the cleaver guys are easier to deal with by backing up and hitting them with the shotgun.

That is funny! Nothing left underneath but the shock absorbers! I enlarged that pix. I wonder what that brown thing is that's sticking out of the passenger's window? Yeah, those fat guys with their cleavers. As long as I keep facing them, they'll go down with just 2 or 3 presses of F. They do try to run behind me. Smart AI in this game. Other npc's seem to have trouble shooting when I'm doing F's to their face, and they take maybe twice as long to kill doing melee. Not been using Alt key to roll, I need to swap the Alt and Ctrl keys first. Does the game remember changed keybinds? Thought I read somewhere that it didn't yet. And I need to get in habit of sprinting while reloading!

Yep, the AI is dumb in some respects. Single file around corners ftw! It's not bad AI in some other ways, like they'll come try to flush you out of cover!
