Pretty sure I had 5 echelon rep before doing any pvp. There are rare ( maybe extinct) emergencies that expand into kinda side quest deals. At least for top-notch and soleptor. It surprised the hell out of me you can literally get rep at will from arenas. They need more of this stuff.
Keyword here is 'participating'. Before Trion adds any incentive or additional reward for PVP, they need to fix matches to eliminate the 'spectators' - the people that queue for the match and go AFK. Back when I was working on the Echelon rep pursuits and running all the Echelon contracts, it really irritated me to spawn at FY and see 3+ avatars just standing at the spawn point....considering this only seemed to happen when there were FY contracts for 'win 7 matches', it was fairly obvious these 'players' were joining just in hopes of getting a free win without bothering themselves to actually help. If the rewards for PVP are increased without ensuring the participants are actually participating, you will see this behavior dramatically increase and any remaining potential enjoyment of the PVP in Defiance decrease proportionally.
Hey, I am a bad PVP Gamer, but I manged to get the max reputation at echelon and received my platin.
It was most of time fun for me, you can finish the daily / weekly with small problems (cheaters, glitch user, pro gamer) within max 2Months by playing every day 2hours / 3hours
I use overcharging,
1 orange vot grind fragger, 1 blue vot grind fragger + synergie mods
1 vbi assault riffle (orange), 1 BMG (orange), 1 FRC Sub (orange), 1 Vot pulser (orange)
From my experiences orange weapons have a big advantage in pvp ... and its hard to find those ones,
best way is to use the trade function ingame.
Normal Shield like damage resistance electric or fire 1284, recharge 3 sekund, 40% per secon and 25% Health

Why I don't PvP in Defiance:
- It's boring - The way game mechanics work, its common to be dead before you can react to an attack. Spending a significant percentage of your time choosing where to respawn is as fun as watching the game patch.
- No reward - Really? I just spent 20 minutes bunny hopping in a paranoid frenzy, trying to figure out how to get my kills to count for the rep contract, didn't even see the cerberus all match or get a chance to work on that pursuit, scored #2 in points on the winning team, and I got two ark keys. I could have driven by 8 minor arkfalls in that same time period, squirted a BMG heal out as I zoomed by, and bought a tier 3 cache.
- Subset of no rewards is that I don't feel the need to reach 5K.
- Easy exploits - no need to explain these
If I feel like PVPing, then I have a completely free game called WoT I can play and a clan active in clan wars there.
Improving PVP?
- Have to make it so that one-shotting is rare instead of common
- Bigger, better maps
- REWARDS need significant improval. Oj shields and grenades for sell at the echelon vendor would probably shorten Qs
- more modes - escort the reaper to the base; Assault the player held fortress; Cerberus demolition derby - just a few examples
In its current state i understand why a few people just say kill the PvP in this game altogether, but it can't be abandoned. The only content in the game for clans right now is PvP. I know I stopped running Co-ops after realizing I wasn't even paying attention to them. I found myself going to the exact same spot in each map, waiting for the exact same spawns, and killing them with the exact same efficiency every time. Kinda like 'What if the interwebs only had 1 dirty movie to watch?' PvP quickly became that way as well, so now i just log on for 20 or 30 minutes after work. grab a quick 8-12 keys from whatever arkfalls or seiges are going on and by a T2 cache.
PvE and PvP ways to grind all the reps would be nice, espcially if you can get rep just partaking in said events.
Grinding echelon might not be so bad if you got some for at least trying.
They should make Duels count towards PvP rep, go into an instance at the Diablo Lighthouse and duke it out with a player, maybe even place bets with Scrip or Salvage. They could also do mini-sieges, like the Arena but as a group of 2-4, where you all try to out do each other's personal scores, the winner gets an additional prize like in the Co-Ops. That would def. be a blast, small to big arena sizes that allow 1v1, 2v2, 4v4, or maybe even 3v3v3 lol.
