Siege Etiquette and a Proposition for all Arkhunters Green and Veterans alike

Please bear with me as I am not very good at expressing my ideas tersely.

We have all experienced this. We are exploring the Bay Area in Defiance when we see that lovely blue icon indicating a Volge siege will soon be underway. You speed on over there in your roller and, being a veteran (or nearly so), you are wise enough to realize that there aren't enough arkhunters there to start it yet, so you hang back and wait for more to arrive. A few seconds later you notice the point is starting to be captured and think "No you **************** there aren't enough people yet!" So the siege begins with a force of arkhunters that can rival the bravery of the Defiant Few, yet they are just that, few, and are lucky to get to stage 8, leading to a very disappointing siege.

This is a very frustrating experience which can then lead to some...uhhh un nice things being said.
A couple of times when this has happened I have inspected the player/s who started it and sometimes they have rather low ego, not very good gear, and are possibly new to the game. So everyone cool off and just tell them that it is better to wait for more people, and tell them nicely, no need for hate among arkhunters

Now that that business is out of the way I can get to the proposition.

Imagine this: All sieges get to the epic stages of 11, 12, and 13 maybe further with time to spare. What a glorious world, yes? Impossible you say? Of course it's possible!

If you haven't realized it by now or are new to the game, these major events are largely about cooperation. For those out there who think you are or will be good enough to take on anything... starting a siege early and hoping to get anywhere with it is kind of like seeing a major ark fall and thinking "Man I wish all these people would just go and let me solo this thing!" Get real or go back to your COD or whatever made you think such a thing!

    Now the real proposal! (Finally!)

It all relies on people wanting to cooperate in order to get to the epic levels of the sieges
If everyone develops an *understanding* of which siege to go to when they appear it is possible for dang near everyone in game to be at a single siege ripping the Volge a new one! If they even had one to begin with I don't know I am not educated in Volge anatomy!

*For guys out there kind of like the unspoken rules of the public restroom.
*For girls.. well I'm sorry ladies I can't think of anything for you but hey you're smarter than we men so you don't need an explanation right?

If sieges don't start unless people start them (Please correct me if I am wrong on this) it is better for everyone to do this. The understanding could be to work from top to bottom starting with Kinship working down on the map.

If they do start or disappear after a certain amount of time we should still organize to get as many people at a single siege as we can. (I have heard that some of the bigger clans do and it turns out well so let's make it everyone and make it epic) It will then be possible, no, easy to have the most fun possible at sieges. Tearing Volge down as quickly as they come, not losing even a single capture point, reaching stages never before seen by human or votan, not a single score under 15000! Okay maybe I am exaggerating a bit but still this would be very awesome and would ensure that sieges are always exhilarating.

This is my first post starting a new thread so please be kind!

I realize I rambled at times but if you got this far thank you for your time and for your attention. If you post thank you for your thoughts.

Please give your opinions and thoughts on my idea and, if you all out there like this idea, ideas on how to organize such an amazing volge massacring force of Arkhunters. As well as a way to ensure everyone knows about this. I am on PC NA and won't turn down a friend request(How else am I gonna get those pursuits?)

    Defiance!

If I may paraphrase many of the people on here: "No, I will never do what you want! Screw you, I can do what I want!" etc. etc.

Annoying, but thats the state of these forums.

I think the hellbug skitterling Arkfall issue has already taught us your idea will never work.
A simple change of requiring two people to unlock the Siege would go a long way in helping the situation.

    What a great idea.

And screw those guys that play at night, right?

I usually wait for others to arrive. However, I also often play at night, and a lot of times we are no more than 4 or 5 at the end. So, no. I think such contrivances are a bad idea.

If you want to reach those "epic" stages, then organize and be ready to deploy at a moment's notice. Don't bar me from content just because I play when there are only a handful of people around.

I always keep track of what time the last seige finished & then I put up a msg in zone & clan chat saying to meet at a certian spot & camp it out. We do stil get the noobs starting it early from time to time but weve norm got at leaste 10 players there by then. Give it a try. Works on the most part for me

I can start it and solo a bunch of waves myself, getting lots of points and far more than 20k by the time others show up. What is in it for me by waiting, aside from stolen kills.

You have a profound knack for irony.

    As to the OP:

As a fellow forumite often guilty of producing "wall of text" posts, I can only offer a few pointers as to how better to convey your point.

    1) Don't have a word like "tersely" show up in the thread preview (tooltip hover) if you want lots of people to actually bother reading your thread.

    2) Don't put "proposition" and "unspoken rules of the public restroom" as prominent end-of-one-liners in the same page scroll as one another. There are some things you just can't "unsee" when skimming a lengthy bit of text, and your smiley usage just compounded this problem.

    3) You should list your server and platform earlier in the thread, especially if you have any intention of making a jab at COD.

Jests aside, and as to the actual topic, a better (or functional for that matter) shard-wide chat and less-wonky instancing hijinks, or sieges that spawned more often in intervals instead of the common multiple/all-at-once siege pops, or a myriad of other design decisions that could have improved the experience, all would have gone a long way to fixing the problem you're describing... with the exception of the groups of people that either just don't care or (worst case) actively seek to disrupt the enjoyment of other players.

Seeing as such groups of players seem to exist (to some extent) in every online game, and the fact that the chat system is a bit of a running joke in these parts...

You're likely to find that, although a number of players might agree with your intent, many aren't going to be bothered to jump through hoops for the benefit of random strangers in a game with abysmally poor social interaction.

In other words, your best bet is to find one of those clans you alluded to that specifically organizes sieges and join them.

Yes, I adamantly disagree with the removal of key codes from all emergencies.

I reserve the right to take personal offense at anyone who disagrees with me, because I find blatant stupidity offensive.

Yup, that's why I said, just to screw you over.

No, I also happen to play during the night and I am all for more than just 2 people starting a siege. There are more people that start sieges early than not (hell, I used to be guilty of it when I didn't know any better). Having there be more than 2 people to start would almost guarantee that sieges get past the 10th wave.

Of course, I also think that sieges should not be timed, and that you have 1 life per wave and if everyone dies during that wave, the siege ends. That would also cause people to wait for others before starting.
