    I use the same preset and it makes the game look much better than without SweetFX.

    How do you change the keybinding for disabling the SweetFX?

    E: Nevermind, it's in injector.ini

    All the Sweetfx preset text does is tell Sweetfx what the name of the settings file is to look for.
    if your not using a default copy of sweetfx that file may be changed and that's why your crashing.
    if you open "SweetFX_preset" and it doesn't read

    #include "SweetFX_settings.txt"

    and your preset settings file isn't named "SweetFX_Settings"

    Your crashing because sweetfx starts the "SweetFX_preset" file looks for a non default named settings file cant find it and closes the program.

    Also if the game continues to crash make sure you have the latest Directx installed it may fix the problem before having to try a reinstall.

    There's 2 ways to add a preset to a game one drop it in the preset folder in the sweetfx folder and tell the "SweetFX_preset" which one to chose in that folder. Or leave the "SweetFX_preset" file alone and just rename the Preset setting file itself to "SweetFX_Settings" and overwrite the default one with the preset settings you want.

    I do the second as i put sweetfx in every directory of a game i wish to use it in. and don't need presets for like skyrim in a game like BF3 to begin with simpler that way.

    I intended to launch a Sweetfx thread with dev permission a week after launch but you jumped the gun before i could get permission to do a detailed posting which is why I'm now in this thread..
    I was hoping I could get a thread stickied about this when I made one.

    I replaced the SweetFX_settings.txt with the preset file you made, and named it SweetFX_settings.txt
    the SweetFX_preset.txt has the text #include "SweetFX_settings.txt" just as you say it should.

    I too chose the second option to just replace the default settings with the preset I want, it worked the first time I installed it, but now when I restarted the game it doesn't work anymore.

    Directx is up to date.

    Edit: Reboot fixed the problem, still cant figure out what went wrong. Now the game plays like a beauty again.

    Contents of your live folder should look like this when done.

    I made sure to follow your instructions to the T. My Live folder looks exactly the same way that yours does, but I'm still getting the crashing issue. I made sure to rename the preset to "SweetFX_settings" and it does say "#include "SweetFX_settings.txt" inside the SweetFX_preset.txt file.

    Not really sure what else to try. This sort of stuff isn't new to me, so I'm not sure what is going wrong exactly.

    If you go inside "SweetFX_preset" does the text read

    #include "SweetFX_settings.txt"

    also try renaming the "SweetFX_Settings" to "SweetFX_Settings.txt"

    Yes. And I tried rebooting my computer as the poster above did, and it didn't fix my problem.

    I also installed the latest version of Direct X from the link posted above.

    I'm using Windows 8 64bit, I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I've had a few problems since switching from 7.

    I tried this, as well. No go.

    I tried something a little different, too.. I tried using the "http://gsngaming.com/topic/9003-defiance-sweetfx-v14/" preset, which requires no modification of any of the files. The preset.txt and settings.txt are already done for you and it's still crashing on me when I try to launch.

    It's really infuriating that I can't get this to work. >.<;
