The problem is, the moment they approve it they inevitably get people asking for support in getting it working with that specific game, etc. So most tend to avoid explicitly authorising the use of SweetFX.

And FYI I use it with PS2 and have never had a problem.

I'm still having problems with Sweetfx, the game runs fine for a few game sessions, then all of the sudden the client just crashes before the intros even though I have done no changes to the settings or anything. Reinstall wont work, reboot USED to work. Now it doesn't. So I guess no Sweetfx for me.

I'd be more concerned about the underlying cause of the crashes if I were you, I highly doubt it is caused by SweetFX if it is working fine initially then a few launches of the application later it doesn't.

I never have problems without Sweetfx. So why should I assume something other than Sweetfx is the problem? I really want sweetfx to work properly because I enjoy the game more with the tweaked graphics.

Note, sweetfx never caused a drop in my fps even on huge arkfalls and pvp.

Edit: Reinstalled, used new preset, works fine now...

Well from what I know about SweetFX - it uses DirectX technology. So what you wanna make sure is that your DirectX is updated to the latest version, and make sure you have an uncorrupted up to date version of .Net Framework installed. I've learned that if you have a corrupted .Net Framework (software that uses it can corrupt it), you just have to uninstall it, and then reinstall it and Microsoft provides an uninstaller for it online you can get. As long as DirectX and .Net Framework is updated and not corrupted, then you shouldn't have issues with SweetFX - unless you placed it into a folder of the game that users similar file types - it might get confused. But for Defiance that wouldn't be possible considering where the game is saved, and the files that are there, have nothing to do with it. So if you've double checked about the above, then the problem has to be something else. That's just my opinion on the matter. Hopefully you manage to get it working. It's worth using if you like to have the best visuals you can. You could also use ENB, which has more options to tweak. However, you have to find one that works with Defiance, but is designed for another game. That's the time consuming part, the hard part is learning what each feature in the enbseries.ini does and what you can do with them.

way better program to carpure video with is Open broadcast software, a free program thats actually designed to stream, but also records and encodes to x264 in realtime, the quality is awesome and it doesnt affect performance much at all, i find it way superior to anything on the market currently, its also super easy to handle
