for me when i type a message i.e (only 21 needed for Freight Yard :/ ) and press start no message appears in the chat box, and i never see anybody else sending a message in the chat box ...

Yeah, it's been broken for a few months now. You can only see chat when you press Enter. Fixing the chat system isn't a priority. It was said it will get updated with the next DLC, the date when that is going to be released is unknown. We'll just have to deal with it untill then.Originally Posted by Hojo

The Devs have no clue that a working Chat is the heart of an mmo.

Wrong, it's been broken since alpha testing and there fix made it unusable.

The chat in Defiance makes it hard to believe that this is from the same company that made Rift!
