£49.99 for a Download FREE to Play Game?

Sweet Jesus I was going to pick it up while I wait for the 360 version to not arrive from Amazon but that price is way way way off the mark.

The PS+ discount only makes it £39.99

Defiance is a free to play MMO, it is called FREE TO PLAY because instead of relying on a monthly subscription to sustain the cost of keeping the servers running (that the MMO Universe sits on) they instead rely on "micro transactions"

...so you know it is FREE TO PLAY.

If I am downloading the client I don't expect to be paying more then £30 and that's pushing it.

Then you expected differently then the company putting it out as to how much it's worth then . Are most single player games " free to play "? Kind of wonder about that but more importantly i'd like to hear of about 5 other " free to play " ps3 / multi cousole games ( other then dust I know about that one ) That are somehow less then 30$ new ones as defiance IS new ( i know diablo is pretty cheap these days, just not the 3rd one )

To be fair £50 is about $75 so imagine if PSN wanted $75 for a digital copy of defiance but the physical is only $60

It is not free to play. Dust 512 is free to play, meaning that you download the game for free and play online without having to pay a subscription. Defiance is Purchase to Play, meaning that you buy the game and play online without having to pay a subscription fee. They're completely different.

So what you are angry about isn't the actually cost but the value you have placed on the game with it's mechanics?

If you made more money would you still mind spending the money for it, or would you just buy it with out a second thought?

Maybe the fix to you issue is to find a better paying job or to look at the value you've place on the game itself.

No sorry but that would make it a regular retail game. Yes you have to pay for the initial purchase of the game as many MMO's do. The key word is MMO and the term free to play simply means that the game contains no subscription costs. To keep the MMO world you are playing up and running you either need to get players to sub or pay for micro transactions. A sub would constitute NOT free to play where as microtransactions denotes it IS free to play.
