I'm with you on this. I don't care if it's free. A free game that I don't want to play is not a bargain. Period. To get me to play a game I don't want to play for an hour, you have to pay me. Minimum wage plus benefits. Playing a game I don't want to play is called "work."

I have another problem, too. I was planning on streaming via Twitch, but with only one spare Windows compatible laptop, I don't see any way that I can watch my own channel's chat and watch the Trion team's stream, especially since my stream isn't going to be on Android and, as far as I know, Trion's never have, either. Any suggestions?

Well, like I told C33p, if it's really an issue, just download, create a toon real quick and log in for an hour, then uninstall. As I said in the other thread, I'm going to re-watch the last couple of streams just to make sure I wasn't misinterpreting what they were talking about.

In terms of the streaming, I'm a noobie at it, so don't know how much help I can be, but this is what I am doing:

I will be recording the stream on one of my laptops with Xsplit and the integrated camera. I will be watching the Trion stream and my own stream on my desktop system with dual monitors. I tried watching the stream on the laptop while recording, and the results were bad - very bad. Could have been just my noobishness, though. I don't know how problematic Twitch would be with a non-Windows OS, but the problems I have encountered with watching the streams have stemmed from my browser settings and things like Java/Flash blockers. I have had better results more consistently by watching via Firefox with my blockers turned off for twitch.tv only.

You may do just fine having a system to watch both streams side by side on one of your non-windows systems, and using your windows box for the recording.

You may have had the same problem receiving your stream while playing that I did, at first: sound feedback problems. I had to turn the sound off on the receiving machine (just turn the volume of the stream down to zero) to keep it from feeding back into the mic. Try that, see if it helps. Otherwise it may just be a bandwidth issue, especially if you're connected via WiFi on one or both devices.

I've got four devices that I can put on this desk: an Android phablet, an Android tablet, an antique Windows Vista laptop, and my main gaming PC. The non-Windows systems can only receive streams that Twitch has approved for Mobile streaming ... restricted to only the most popular streams, according to their customer service. So definitely not me, and apparently not TrionWorlds either. If I had a third laptop, I could have my stream's chat window open on one and TrionWorlds' stream on the other. I might be able to make it work on one laptop with multiple windows, but I'm not sure. My thought is to open both streams in multiple tabs, and use the "pop out" chat windoid in my own so that I can see both chat boxes.

Goes right back to what I said about Rift being crammed down my proverbial throat... it shouldn't have to come to all of this. Again, had I known all of this several weeks ago I never would've bothered in the first place, because Rift doesn't interest me in the slightest.

Well the good news is that I did misunderstand what dahanese said. I went back over the livestream just to confirm, because it does seem strange (but not necessarily out of the ordinary) to play both games:

    http://www.twitch.tv/trionworlds/b/473442747

The conversation takes place right around 1 hour 50 minutes.

Kaiselius is correct, I had misunderstood what dahanese was saying, and it makes sense now that I listened to it again.

If we want the rewards in BOTH games, 1 hour minimum is necessary in both, with a total combined 25 hours. If you only care about the Defiance rewards (or vice versa for Rift), you need only put the full 25 hours in Defiance (or Rift as the case may be). Sorry for the confusion guys - I should have gone back over the livestream first, but was pretty sure I understood correctly, and wanted to get the info out for those who may not have known about it. My bad :{.

    $?

Does extra life cost money to join? I'd love to donate but right now it's a little difficult. If just playing helps I'll do all I can to play more.

I've been able to watch Trion's livestream on my Samsung Android tablet. I just select following and it comes up, can't see the chat though. Also, I've never been able to find the replay.

I, too, was confused by what Elizabeth said. Spent about 8 hours downloading and setting up Rift just so I could play it for an hour. Glad that got cleared up. I tried it out but I don't really care for it.

Do we know yet if the 25 hours has to be 9am-9am or just a total of 25 hours over the weekend? If just a total, does anyone know when the window starts and stops?
