It's good somebody can play. I just tried a moment ago and I'm still getting the critical patch error. I deleted the game data like many others, it had no problem installing the previous patch data but then it got to the new one, downloaded at a ludicrous speed but fails to actually install and just "downloads" about 4 more times before the error message pops up.Originally Posted by hey u

It's now asking me to download all the patches again i didn't delete anything though that's weird.
Another update: I'm on now. In review:
I went to Game Utility on the PS3 dashboard and deleted the date for the game.
Logged back on and redownloaded the patches
Hours later, I'm on.
neither patch worked for me not even when they went back to 1.105 this sucks
I too am unable to play on ps3. Downloaded the latest patch and I keep getting a critical error. This is nuts. All I want to do is shoot some bugs on my day off and I am forced to comb through the forums to fix a game that worked fine two days ago.

You might have to reinstall all the patches again. It appears to be a problem with the original 1.106 patch if you had it reverted back to 1.105. If it is a fresh install with no original 1.106, it should work.its doing it again please fix the problem there it frustrating might think of leaving this bug out game

I was reading the forums on everyone not logging in so I did try and could not do it. So simple to fix
1. In the PSN main menu, go to Game.
2. Scroll down to Game Data Utility.
Important: Make sure you select Game Data Utility. Do NOT select Saved Data Utility.
3. Highlight the game data utility file for Defiance.
4. Press the Triangle button and select Delete.
5. Highlight ‘Yes’ and press the Triangle button to confirm the deletion.
I now in playing
Why is this such a big problem? Down all day saturday and now down when I return from work
