Its not for lack of wanting to - items are restricted by EGO level. If I pull a Legendary from a lockbox, I could give it to you, but you couldnt use until you get to that EGO level.

Yeah, I gave away an orange shield, and an orange Volge battle rifle this past weekend.

Ha i dont have them to give, since launch ive had 2 orange guns one an ok sniper rifle very basic, and a revolver that i sold at iron demon straight after getting it

I keep pulling weapon types I don't like, so I pass them on to friends who do use those kinds.
I've had great luck with the lockboxes, and like to spread it around.
