Neither do I - if you recall, when they were talking about antiquing weapons - months ago, they said something about offering 15K or so for old unwanted oranges - this seems to very much fall in line with that.

Just selling my trash items to that vendor was netting me 25k to 50k per trip.

I think you should ask how long did it take to grind the 75 keys to buy the Epic Mod Horde and get 4 Rocket Launcher mods. No?

If the Epic Mod Hoard box goes away after this weekend (like they said it would), then no. Regardless, my point was about getting scrip without actually farming for scrip, not getting keys to buy lockboxes for items to sell to a vendor (which isn't normal play style outside of the Epic Mod Hoard + Extra Life Vendor).

You can sell T3's for 10K right now; ever think of selling them to other players?

This has nothing to do with the fact that I could have sold those mods to the limited-time Extra Life Vendor. I don't get why people get on this "but you could have been doing this all along" argument when it's besides the original point.

As for your 50+ pre-patch oranges, as Trion says, do with them what you feel. I'm sure if you advertised them for 15K a piece you'd get some takers.

See above. And, no, because most of mine are EGO 5000. Care to guess how many EGO 5000 players will pay 15K for a pre-patch orange with crap rolls?

Also, how do we even know it was a glitch? Perhaps they did value purple mods at 35K, considering each epic mod costs nearly 20 keys and 1250 scrip. Maybe they are also increasing the scrip paid for vendoring weapons. (Perhaps this was a vendor test and those values will start showing up at other vendors "soon", as Trion is so fond of saying.)

Who cares what we call it? It was a limited-time opportunity that allowed a small population of players access to a potentially large amount of scrip. What it will be in the future is anyone's guess and, quite frankly, irrelevant to the original discussion.

One more thing, I'll tell you I didn't come close to making a half million scrip like was given to random players for never buying an orange charge blade...so just look back a couple months and you can see exactly what happened when a small group of players got a large amount of scrip.

That orange charge blade refund was also a mistake on Trion's part for those who didn't deserve it. Past mistake doesn't justify future ones. Also, I'm not active in trading outside my clan so I don't know what happened. Regardless, the existence or non-existence of inflation in the trade economy has nothing to do with whether or not this "glitch" is a "big deal". It's going to be a big deal for some (like me) and not for others (like you).

This event was not Trions to schedule, they could not postpone it, or stop in the middle of the event. I'm sure they were aware of what was going on, there was just nothing they could do about it, the issue was not game breaking so they probably just let it roll for good and bad.

It's not so much these last two incidents (scrip windfall with extra life vendor + worse stats on extra life sniper rifle for EGO 5k) in isolation than the actual buildup of all of the mistakes since day one. While new players experience the game with rose-colored glasses (relatively), this kind of stuff just drives off veterans.

How long does it take for the average person to get 35K playing normally? (I'm not talking about the mindless infinite spawn spots). I can tell you it takes me about a few hours if I'm not going all hard core ark hopping. Multiply a few hours by the number of tier 4 mods I don't want and could have sold (it's over 100 by a fair margin) and that's a few hundred hours worth of scrip for me right there. This isn't accounting for 50+ pre-patch oranges that could have sold for 13K each and 100+ tier 3 mods that could have sold for 10K each. And I could have spent that scrip to buy more tier 4 mods because I'm scrip-limited (I have millions of salvage). Fellow clan mates have made single-digit millions in scrip because of this. It may not have been a big glitch for YOU (out of curiousity, how much scrip did you make?) but for ME it's a "big glitch" because of the time it could have saved me. And it's enough to take what little wind out of the tattered sails I have for this game.

And then there's the inflation of prices for high-end gear that can come of this (it's what happens when only a small % of the population get access to a relatively large windfall of income). But that's another story yet to unfold...

for like ten hours leading up to this there were people in-game buying pre patch legendaries. i sold 5 of my crappy self revive legendaries to a guy for 100k. granted, i didnt know what he was going to do with them at the time, and i really didnt care, because someone was actually buying my crappy legendaries. so he made money on them --- i dont care. not to mention, there were bunches of people talking about it in-game during the 12 hour span it took the extra life vendor to come back. so its not like there wasnt advance warning.


trion missed it, and a lot of players actually got scrip for their crappy old guns that only became crappy because of the last patch. i have absolutely no problem with anyone that made scrip this way .
