The term 'Boar' is not exclusive to pigs or hogs, but can be used to denote the male of several mammals.

The term 'Hog' was used as a modifier to narrow it down, and keep it in the vernacular, or slang, of the way the term is commonly expressed.

In this case, I do not believe it was redundant.


Regarding Zoo's: Not sure of the usage you allude to. Having been an agribusiness major and manager in my early/misspent youth, and working on a horse and cattle ranch where we raised several dozen Hampshire hogs for Christmas slaughter every year, I found that the term Boar Hog tends to be in common usage amongst the agrarian population.

Why, just last night Old School Pop mentioned that he might have seen a sled flying over Sutro Tower headed for the Zhena Array being pulled by eight tiny skitterlings. I am a total believer!
The Santa Viscera is going to come down the duct-work at Top-Notch Toolworks and deliver a Sweet Orange Assault Rifle with Run and Gun synergy to Crixy-Wixy because I have been extra good. And I want my "Trick Dempsey" Action Figure!!!
I have heard that the Von Bach Industries is making a special run of 100 "Dahanese" Action Figures with the "Keyboard and Mouse grip"! Those will be ultra rare!

zoo.philia is one word but I had to put in the period so it wasn't censored out... now re-read my post and I'm sure you will get what I was saying

also technically boar doesn't have to denote sex as the term simply refers to one of 10 species of wild pig while hog is one of the common names used to refer the domestic pig.. The ancestors of the domesticated pigs (hogs) are wild boars... tho you are right that boar is sometimes used to denote a male of a few other mammal species like guinea pig and even raccoon... tho if you are referring to a male hog you would just use hog or boar... saying boar-hog is the same as saying "male pig pig" which is why I called it redundant... my sister is a large animal vet so I've had "use the proper terms" beaten into me over and over... she's worse than any of my USMC instructors ever were about it


as far as the topic of this thread... I'm all for holiday events... they fit since it is Earth and there are a ton a humans and I doubt they would all just stop celebrating holidays we always have... maybe we could get some more lore introduced to in the way of Votan holidays?

Can't we argue animal terms AND discuss holidays at the same time? Like wich would you RATHER have for thanksgiving a Tom turkey or a female turkey? Liquidacid, this is the time where you tell me what a fem turkey SHOULD be called and enhance my knowledge, please.
