In response to the Q&A thread these questions have been answered and we'll continue to answer more questions as we get the answers, approved wording, and appropriate guidance.

Q: What is the value of 1,200 bits? What is the real world value of the 30 day exp & scrip booster? How much is the season pass worth?

A: As much as I’d love to give you clear answers on these, individual values of these are still being tweaked as we adjust the balance of the game. What I can tell you, is that we intend for 1,200 bits + 30 day XP boost + 30 day Scrip boost + Season Pass together to be worth approximately $80. If during our balancing of the game it turns out that any of these elements are worth less than what we intend, we’ll increase quantity or substitute an item of greater value. People who buy Ultimate and Collector’s Editions are very important and we make sure the value they receive from these editions is much greater than what’s in the actual box.

    ***UPDATE***

Q: Why does the $150 Ultimate edition only get 7 days of xp/script but the Digital Deluxe gets 30 days?

A: The Ultimate Edition comes with much more value in the form of collectible art book, hellbug statue, and of course the Season Pass and bits. Since digital customers won’t be getting any of those, we wanted to make sure they had good value in their edition also. Don’t worry, you will be able to purchase boosts in the Defiance store once the game is live.
I'm leaning toward getting the physical version of the PS3 Ultimate Edition. It is however, disappointing to me that the digital deluxe version has 30 days of xp/script boost for $99 while the ultimate has 7 days for $149. I understand the UE has the exclusive bag, an art book, the hellug statue, the season pass, and the bits. To me, that's where spending the largest amount for a pre-order comes in. Even if it is only another $50.

At first glance it appears that the digital deluxe version offers more immediate in game value with the same in game items minus the titles and a better boost at a lower price than the UE. Of course, that's relative the the value of the bits as they relate to purchasable early in game content. Perhaps, the 1200 bits will be enough to buy an exp & SC boost of 30 days or early level weapons/gear that will increase the speed that exp & SC are gained equal or better than that of the 30 day boost. Either way, I'd like to see the UE have at least the same immediate in game value as the digital deluxe.

None the less, the long term and physical item value of the UE is greater than that of the digital deluxe and both look to be great buys. I'm excited for the game and would like to make a large contribution towards its success. End the end I'll probably end up with the UE even if its immediate in game value does end up being less than that of the digital deluxe.

Will the PS3/XBOX 360 version be able to be preordered on their respective digital stores? Can you get the digital deluxe edition on them?

Elizabeth Tobey, Director of Community for Trion Worlds, left the possibility of pre-ordering the digital PS3 version of Defiance from the PS Store open when she responded to my question about this same exact topic here on the USA PS Blog (scroll down to the 17th post) here: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/...comment-807697

    Lance,

You should fix your 30 day boost typo at the bottom.

So the only thing i am worried about is the fact it will be going on all 3 platforms.. PC / PS3 / Xbox, now i know that the console community is a big one and that when asked about if they were going to do cross platform gaming, so gamers can play with console and PC people.

They said that they can do that if they need to, but they were more inclined to have each platform sticking and having their own servers. This will be a bad community move, with split community the community size will make some of the platforms mostly void of players.

They need to implement the Cross Platform servers from the start or they will run into major problems launch until servers shut down on certain platforms due to not many players.

It has been stated will not happen. Sony and M$ don't play well together.
