Why do you play?

Doesn't even sound like much of a PvE game (in the classic mmo sense).

But I shall continue to enjoy the story-line & the catharticness of mindlessly emptying clips into silly AI heads!

That is because it is an MMO in a CONSOLE sense. Nobdy from the Pc side is used to console players' fickleness and gimme attitide. Guess if you are going to branch out to console, you REALLY NEED to RESEARCH that different demographic and player mentality. Obviously they did not and, STILL thought they could just half(@$$) merge certain console elements into a pc game and get EVERYONE to like it.

I think this really is it. I was reading the "What other games do you play?" thread and realized people's standards/expectations/desires are very different from what mmorpg PC players are looking for.

It seems for many people, this game is just one of many that they play. Whereas your traditional/serious mmorpg PC player tends to be invested heavily in one game at a time. (A result of game complexity/$15 monthly charge.)

I'm not going to lie, I originally was interested in this game to see how they would handle the show/game crossover content. S1 was pretty disappointing, but I am going to give them a pass on the first season because the show was already done with when the game launched, so crossover content was limited. I expect bigger and better things with S2.

I also love sci-fi and shooters. An MMO with real-time shooting mechanics is rare, and when I did begin to play I did dig the Borderlands Online vibe I got.

Unfortunately, the game is handled very poorly, and it's very clear the lack of the TV show being on hurts the game a lot. But again, even with Xbone and PS4 launching, I'll still play Defiance and see where Season 2 of the TV show leads. If S2 is a disappointment or the show gets canceled, the game will be doomed.

I play because I absolutely love the idea and setting of this game, let alone the aweomse(imo) gameplay. Everything to me is just so fluid and has a sense of flow that I can't really explain, and it attracts me. I have this weird little thing that I do with games like these where I just play it as if I were roleplaying on it, though just playing normally when with friends and running around destroying bad guys. Looooove the show too, which also drags me into the game even more, and honestly, I just love killing **** ingame, it's so pleasing, especially in PvP. I usually do really bad in pvp, but when I kill someone I get so happy lol. Not to mention if I do decent/good, puts me in such a good mood. I'll be with this game until it either 1) dies, or 2) It gets better and better, in which case, I'll continue shooting shtako. Volge shall not pass my friends, and their bombers shall not splashdmg.



I can't afford newer games anyway, and even if I could I will still play Defiance.
Going to be trying playing Destiny too, going to do whatever I can to get it.

It's a whole big steamy sh!t-ton of fun.
I like that I can do as I please.
I can pop in for an hour for mindless slaughter.
I can spend all afternoon on character progression.
I can run around arkfalls healing people with full health.(joke)

The game is by no means perfect.(understatement)
Recent events make me think they are honestly trying to improve things.
'Spose we shall see.

P.S. @Valerus. I like to role play too. (Or at least be "in character")

Welcome Seth....go check out the Clan section under Gameplay Discussion and I'm sure you will find a good clan. It is much more fun with a good group of people to keep you company and kill things with!
