This weekend for me was one out of twice a year. I know y'all barely know me, but I happen to be a collector of various things, such as vintage toys, vintage comics, vintage video game and gaming systems. In fact, the idea if Historical Salvage was inspired by my hunting around in thrift stores and such (though not as action packed, thank god). This weekend was the fall version of what is known as Flea Across Florida. It's a series of yard sales that is set up by everyone that goes along Highway 90, stretching from Jacksonville to Pensacola. I covered from Lee, Florida to Montecello, which includes Madison (my hometown), in the two days I was out. It happens twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. It's always on Friday and Saturday, which is why I haven't been on the past two days. Found some stuff for my collection and some stuff for my mom and dad as well. So, that is the only time that this will happen this year. But in Sunday nights I do a thing called Operation: Rewatch with someone I know. We rewatch various sci-fi shows. Right now, we're on Babylon 5. We watch two episodes per rewatch and we normally chat up until 1 am. So, after that, I can normally come online up until 3am. But I plan on catching up on the RP soon.

I'm almost done with the Freedom, Alabama description. I should let you guys know, I do have a little bit of wiggle room, as what I'm writing shouldn't be limited to just me. If there's some places you want to see in the town that isn't present in either Defiance or the Bay, feel free to chip in. Also character models are open for suggestion if you guys feel they're not good enough. But am also working on the Day 2 events. If y'all want, I can shorthand it, make it that Chase is already being held captive in the Hollows, and that he recalls the events of the day. But I don't think it'd be as interesting though.

Okay ladies and gentlemen, here is the basic information on Freedom, Alabama. Like I said, what I have here is the basis of things. If anyone feels anything should be changed, improved or would like to add a few things, let's talk about it here. So, here it is. The town of Freedom, Alabama.
History and Description of the Town:
Most of the city of Pensacola was hit hard during the Pale Wars, the West Side and entire South Side was completely destroyed. When the terraforming began, most of those areas became wooded/wilderness areas, and a small canyon dubbed “Lar’s Abyss” by the locals (south east, a mile below Highway 90, near where Pensacola International Airport used to be), and the Bay areas (including Pensacola Bay, Escambia Bay and Macky Bay) no longer exist. The North side has some minor terraformed areas that covers 15 square miles, with everything further past 15 miles being untouched by the terraforming until the end of the north Alabama state line. The only part of the old town that remains is the Northeast area of the town, everything north of Highway 90 and ending as far as Pensacola Boulevard west wise, the buildings that had been destroyed having been completely cleared and new buildings constructed. Much like Defiance, most of the town has buildings are recent constructions from recovered storage containers from the old world with some that survived both the war and the terraforming. Unlike Defiance, the west side of town is mainly occupied by members of the Votan races, while the east side is normally occupied by humans. Both sides work with each other and in some cases live and do business with each other with rarely any issues, but mainly stick to their sides of town. But the town is far from being a melting pot like Defiance.
Notable Spots in Town:
Greenbrier Blvd: Greenbrier Blvd serves as the town main market area. Everything from ammo, weapons, shields, vehicles and more all available on “the Boulevard.”
Just off the Boulevard:
- The Watering Hole: the town’s saloon and gambling place. On display is the last known, functional “Galaga” arcade machine in the world (which was recovered by the Cowboys in Chase’s first Historical Salvage). Owned and ran by Sarah Mendez.
- Tech Shop: Electronic shop where you can get electronic device, old or new, refurbished or repaired, or if you’re looking to buy something electronic, this store is the place for you. Owned by Michael Breaker. Also the workplace for Iri Sewuel.
- Med Clinic: a functional medical clinic, includes the most recent medical technology that both human and Votan could ever have. Ran by Doctor Jackson Peters.
- Delilah Sisters’ Hotel and Brothel: Family own and ran, started off for a while as a regular hotel until the sisters decided to expand the dinner menu to include those who prefer the taste of skin (in a non-cannibalistic, yet sinful kind of way), as long as there’s no one hurt, anything goes. Be mindful though, the hotel does occasionally get picked by the nearby Baptist Church, mainly comprised of the older generation who were alive when the Votans came to Earth. Own and ran by Samantha Delilah and Jolene Delilah.
- Cooper’s Cafe: Home of the best cup of coffee on this side of the Storm Divide. Open every day, 8 am to 9 pm. Sets up outside during Defiance Day.
- Freedom Public Library: Library storing many vintage books and magazines, DVDs, CDs and other historical documents from important to mundane. All materials can be readily checked out. Every Saturday and Sunday, hosts classic film and TV show viewings. Ran by former actor Robert D. Jurasik.
- Lawkeeper Office: At the end of the Boulevard at the divide from the East and West side of town. Ran by Lawkeeper Marshal Weeks and his three deputies, Drew Ferry (human female), Thomas Fleetwind (Irathient male) and John Wilson (human male).
- The Church: mainly used by the Baptists, but open for other old-world religions and off-world religions to be used. Ran by Reverend Jewel Lee.
University of West Florida: The west side of the campus is now the town’s main “government” area, it once being a base of operations for EMC back during the Pale Wars. Pace Library was converted into the main office for the Earth Republic and several dorms used for the quarters for soldiers, while the other areas of the campus that were used for training, vehicle storage and maintenance and research for the EMC are off-limits to E-Rep and civilians alike.
The Cowboys HQ: Located outside of the city limits, the Cowboys HQ is an old car dealership that’s been converted to be a garage, dispatch office, and recovered item cataloging and storage.
The old Lonehart Homestead: a two-story colonial house that sits off of Waterford Drive, sitting right on the divide between the east and west side of town. Currently occupied by Max and Sylvia Murphy.
Citizens of Freedom (NOTE: Any of suggestions for character models are welcomed, or if anyone feels that the ones listed seem a little flat and could be better, feel free to contribute. I’ve left the alien characters opened, as I am not sure who to cast for the roles, let alone how they would look as the aliens. But I will take suggestions):
The Townfolk:
Sarah Mendez (modeled after Katee Sachkoff): Owner of the Watering Hole. She can be tough as nails, capable of curb stomping even the strongest fighter if you screw around in her bar one moment and be nice and kindhearted when you’re nice and kind to her the next. Moved to town from New York two years before Chase left the town.
Michael Breaker (modeled after Billy Campbell): Owner the Tech Shop, which he opened and maintained. Still owns and works at the Tech Shop, but doesn’t handle all of the duties by himself like he used to. Often butts heads with Mayor Langdon Skinner over policies that tend to affect the town, but does it to keep Skinner honest. Grew up in town back when it was Pensacola.
Lawkeeper Marshall Weeks (modeled after Kurt Russell): Used to be a deputy in the town back when it was Pensacola, Florida, well before the Votans showed up. Has dealt with his fair share of conflicts in the town. A little grumpy, but gets the job done despite his griping.
Deputy Drew Ferry (modeled after Kerry Washington): She may be a girl, but she’s a bit of a determinator who you can’t count out in a fight. She’s the best sniper the Lawkeeper has, having grown up in town. Currently has a relationship with Odysseus.
Deputy Thomas Fleetwind: An Irathient male that was raised by a Native American couple after his parents died. Excellent at tracking, just as spiritual as any of his kind though keeping in the ways of the Lawkeeper.
Deputy John Wilson (modeled after Aaron Paul): An on/off alcoholic who sometimes slips in a majorly epic way. May not be able to see straight half of the time, but he uses a shotgun so he doesn’t need to be as accurate with a gun. His father was a deputy who worked with Lawkeeper Weeks, was killed in a raider assault.
Samantha Delilah (modeled after Lynn Collins): Older sister of Samantha, co-owner of the hotel and brothel, serving as manager and madam. She primarily handles the guests checking in/out, as well as making sure that families who are checked in are in their area while individual adults are checked into the adult area of the hotel, so to insure a family didn’t end up in awkward situations. Rarely participates in activities, but doesn’t mind having a good time if requested. Her approach to activities is more intimate than most.
Jolene Delilah (modeled after Olivia Wilde): Younger sister to Samantha, co-owner of the hotel and brothel, serving as manager and madam. Handles the “dinner menu” portion of the adult rooms, arranging what customers wants, be it the typical one-on-one, or “floor shows” involving their talent (including clients who prefer to watch two of them together or a live performance of Suckling with a Skitter). She often participates with the clientele, should they ask her. Unlike her sister, more open to most things.
Robert D. Jurasik (modeled after Bruce Boxlietner): Former TV actor of the classic TV hit show “Brower’s Hill”, a dramatic TV show about a murder in a small town and the people it affects along the way. He currently runs the Freedom Public Library. Enjoys having people in the library, chatting up with the townsfolk and even recommended books, music or movies/TV shows. For the weekend movie show, he puts on a dramatic persona he calls “Mister Looker” (a slapstick character in the same vein as Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin).
Reverend Jewel Lee (modeled after Paz Vega): Born again Baptist, formerly a druggie who used Andreno like it was going out of style. Has a small congregation composed mainly of those who used to live in the town when it was Pensacola. Often leads pickets against the Delilah Sisters’ hotel, despite that it does nothing. Secretly has a relationship with Jolene Delilah, despite knowing that she often participates with the clientele.
Iri Sewuel: Indogene female. Former member of the Biodyne project, assistant to Lev, Doc Yewll’s lover. Extensive knowledge on biomechanics. Was rescued by Chase’s father who was killed in the process. Had sexual relations with Chase during their trip to the University of Alabama, where she worked for two years before coming back to Freedom. Works at the Tech Shop under Michael Breaker, really proficient in technology both Votan and Earth-based. Name pronounced as “Airy Say-wel.”
Doctor Jackson Peters (modeled after Christopher Eccleston): The town's Doctor, proficient in human and Votan medicine. Was a field medical officer during the Pale Wars, treating both humans and Votan prisoners alike. More often crabby than anything else, really hates hypochondriacs and often pulls mean pranks on them just to get them out of the clinic.
The Cowboys:
Max “Boss” Murphy (modeled after Christopher Meloni): Originally second in command of the Cowboys under Chase’s father. Former EMC soldier. Took over the main boss job after Jebediah Lonehart’s death and Chase’s departure from town. Resides in the old Lonehart Homestead with his wife Sylvia, who works dispatch from the Cowboys HQ.
Sylvia Murphy (modeled after Maria Bello): works dispatch at the Cowboys HQ, handles radio communications and inventory checks. Married to Max “Boss” Murphy for over 12 years, both marrying young. Quite a spitfire when she needs to be.
Marcus Blink (modeled after Chiwetel Ejiofor): Originally a gunner of the group, but became second in command to Max Murphy. Serves as the group’s historical expert, able to identify pre-war items, down to the year of their manufacturing. Also serves as geologist for the group, able to determine areas best for locating potential Historical Salvage.
Janet Brads (modeled after Morena Baccarin): A gunner for the group, but also assists Marcus in his job as geologist. Also serves as a “mouse,” someone who is able to fit into small areas with ease. Has been in a relationship with Marcus about a year after Chase left the town.
Odysseus (aka Odie): a Bioman, ID number 2633269 on his chest. Chase’s best friend since childhood after his father brought him in from the cold one winter’s night. He is the major muscle of the Cowboys when he’s needed. Has learned to read since Chase left, his latest book being In the Mountains of Madness by H.P. Lovecraft. In a relationship with Deputy Drew Ferry.
Laquire Blinn: Castithan male. Works with the Cowboys. Former soldier from the Pale Wars, expert at weapons handling and explosives. Basically, he’s the one who makes sure that all weapons are functioning perfectly and is the one who makes sure holes can be made to get the group into the underground. Thoroughly enjoys blowing things up, which has led him to be jailed multiple times by Lawkeeper Weeks, primarily for disturbing the peace via explosives.
Jasine Woxx: Irathient female. Gunner for the group. Her and her husband both served with the Cowboys since the group was formed. Her husband, Phelur, was killed a few months back. Left to raise their child, Minnex, and continues to work as a member of the Cowboys. So tough as nails, if you were to look up the word “hard” in the dictionary, her picture would surely be there.
Local Government:
Mayor Langdon Skinner (modeled after Kyle MacLachlan): Born and raised in Freedom back when it was Pensacola. Handles many of the town’s political, social and state of emergency issues. Frequents the Delilah Sisters’ hotel for a night. Is an active representative of the E-Rep.
Commander Rebecca Cinader (modeled after Naomie Harris): Another member of the E-Reps from the United Kingdom. Doesn’t take any sthacko from anyone, no matter who they are. People find it difficult to get along with her, because once she’s made up her mind about you, she wouldn’t change it even if you save her life three times in a row. She’s just as much a hard-driving personality as George S. Patton.
So, like I said, all of this is open to interpretation and am willing to allow everyone to contribute to making the town a more in tune with what's presented in the show or make it more interesting for the RP.![]()

OK, WOW! Lots to work with here (first looking up most of the actors/actresses that I am not familiar with). Kurt Russell as the sheriff! I have always loved Kurt Russell, so I got to have a scene with him and Belle, although I don't know what, but first a few questions:
(1) What happened to the beautiful white sand beaches that I remember Pensecola having? I have a great bikini scene planned for Belle unless they r gone... then I don't! NP
(2) If Freedom is part of E-Rep (and I kind of got the impression they are), has Belle's celebrity status reached there? If so, I got a running joke in mind with an end moral of "be careful what u wish for" for her, so I hope so. The library might even have a copy of the serials based on her, as established earlier in our shared story, and the librarian, Robert D. Jurasik could either love it or hate it, probably the latter if he only likes classics, or maybe the former if he sees hope in that people r still reading or sees it for what it is, pure escapism and the need for "heroes" in such times, even manufactured ones! The scene can either give Belle insight in her future role in life (if he likes them) or embarrass the heck out of her (if he doesn't). Either way, it might make a poignant scene!
Or Odyessus (sp) might be her #1 fan, since he has just learned to read!
(3) Is the church non-denominational, or Baptist only. I have in mind that Belle is a lapsed Catholic (being from New Orleans) and maybe why she is the way she is as to sex and feeling guilty about everything. I might explore that angle of her in that setting, so is the reverend still an adreno addict? I want to make sure to be loyal to your concept.
(4) Do you plan on exploring John Wilson's story? Or is he just the town drunk? If you have plans for him, great, if not I can work with him.
(5) Any strange critters u have in mind? If not, can I have a combination alligator/shark, or alligator/Boa constrictor or... IDK ! I may have watched too many SYFY movies. I can see one entitled "Sharkgator"! Anyway, I want an alligator/something! - LOL!![]()
