    These are just my opinions.
    I have lots of opinions.
Some of them, on occasion, people have agreed with.
I do not trust those people.

My guess is they want to hide the shrinking interest in the community

Definitely one of the reasons why.

The majority of game forums do this, it isn't out of the ordinary. However when we have things like Steam Charts that tells the story for itself.

They've disabled a lot of things with this forum for some odd reason. They got rid of the message wall, they got rid of private message receipts (this one makes reeks of "hey we don't want you knowing that we're ignoring your pms")

Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

But the 'who's on line' option worked until about 2 days ago, so killing it at this point looks more like discovering something embarrassing that needs to be hidden, like - last week it averaged 6 pages, this week it averages 6 people.

Actually it was most likely tied to the spam posts.

Many spam bots find active forums and post as a means to generate revenue through link clicking. Disabling a register of activity can combat this.

It could also have been a way for someone to hack the site, a fault script or something, and removing it keeps all our info safe.
