    Proposed Feature - Moving Sieges

The livestreams have adopted this playstyle as it suits large groups of players and is generally more reliable at keeping people together, so I propose a new Moving Sieges feature which will cater for Death Marches.

    - Moving Sieges can be triggered at a location with a fast travel point using x currency
    - Only one Moving Siege can be spawned at a time on a server until it reaches the max stages
    - When a Moving Siege is spawned it becomes a public event with an icon like normal sieges on the map
    - The person starting the Moving Siege becomes the siege leader.
    - The first wave of the siege attacks the fast travel location at the leaders location
    - Subsequent waves of sieges are only triggered when the siege leader moves x distance away from the last wave.
    - The icon follows the Moving Siege leader around the map so that others can join
    - Each wave of the moving siege can be of any enemy type
    - The Moving Siege has a timer of 30 minutes max

    What do you think?

I'd just like to see them move regular Sieges and A-falls to random new places so we don't just drive up the same hill, between those two logs (again) to get to that second minor, and then down the hill, passed the raiders and between the same two fence posts (again) to get to the third one in the field.....

It's a big freakin' world. SOMETHING has to fall SOMEWHERE else ONCE in a freakin while.

What you're asking for, whoa, let me sit down, I'm hyperventilating here...
    :: le sigh ::

I can't wrap my head around all that at once.....
Would you settle for maybe a new Raptor color?
    These are just my opinions.
    I have lots of opinions.
Some of them, on occasion, people have agreed with.

Do you mean that a fast travel point is created wherever you spawn the Siege or that you can only spawn the Siege at fast travel points?

Interesting concept....the only drawback I see is that many people go AFK/AFC (myself included) at fast travel points and if a Siege started there....they would just die and then be on here complaining about it.

Maybe if the starting point were something different like the random ammo crates on the side of the road.

Its a nice idea, but from a pure programming standpoint you cant have these things spawn just anywhere. It's just too easy to find spots players would drop arkfalls that would be bugged completely, or else totally exploitable. (place your marker just right at the waters edge, now voila' 3 of 4 spawnponits are underwater and unusable, everything spawns at point 4, now a chimp with a detonator could solo the event)... something like that. You could argue for more available spots for things to spawn (make them emergency sized and it increases your possibilities) but your never going to be able to spawn something like that just anywhere.

Even in Rift, which has tokens you can use to spawn specific rifts, the tokens only work at the established spots

OK, there are specific spots you don't want to spawn a crystal. On an inaccessible roof, in the (deeper than wading) water, in Dahanese's broom closet.
There are thousands of places you can.
Hell, in the middle of a road would be OK. You don't need a football-field clearing, you can spawn one in a choke-point, as long as it's accessible.

Crashing a crystal into/up-against the side of a building would be fine, too, on occasion.

And there are plenty of unused (new) places to spawn a major that are huge for crowds.
    These are just my opinions.

What's this silliness about crystals and spawn points; the suggestion is for a moving siege. To me this screams convoy escort on a grand scale.

Start at a hub. Once you get outside the safety of the hub the enemy can start dropping in on you. You keep going until the timer runs out, the convoy/cargo is destroyed, or you enter another hub. You can stay on the roads and travel faster but risk running into roadblocks (either normal random ones or siege spawned ones). Go off-road and you get slowed down some for being off-road. I'm not fond of the idea of having to move X distance to get the next wave to spawn, because I think deciding to circle the wagons and go defensive should also be a strategic option.

Maybe it could be a random choice of what the convoy is to start: ark tech, VIP, medical supplies, military hardware, etc. That could give a preference to what has a greater chance of spawning, at least initially. Each wave then gets a factor for what mainly occupies the territory, giving the siege leader the opportunity to bias the enemy types by starting in/heading for a certain region.

My thoughts would be that the siege leader drives the lead/primary vehicle, thereby controlling the speed and progress of the convoy. That person's score is determined by not only anything the kill/assist by running it down but also based on operational time and condition of the convoy. They get X points per Y mission time and Z convoy health.

i would be all about player choice in this. No set routes, no goal delivery point. The leader controls where they go and how fast. Maybe if the convoy is lost, everyone loses points off their final score. If things look to be going south fast, they could choose to go defensive; stop and cluster everyone on defense. Another choice would be to make a run for a hub and try to end the siege early rather than risk destruction. This would also lend some usefulness to Raptors and Nomads, so long as the passengers can actually fire their weapons.

This was my first reaction to the OP which is why I asked whether he meant they are only spawnable at existing fast travel points or that spawning them also spawns a fast travel point. The former would just be another way to grief players.

As a concept the latter sounds good but it's not currently feasible IMO. I don't have a tremendous amount of faith that Trion has the development resources to allow players to randomly spawn a fast travel point anywhere in the game or place an Siege point properly when they can't even get my vehicle to spawn in a consistently predictable manner (sometimes it's behind me, other's it's to the side of me, and sometimes it's even leaning up against a tree).

The Hellion still occasionally spawns up in the sky. The Hellbug boss inside it still shows up on the ground next to it. The Monitor still lands suspended several meters above the ground on occasion. There's still much work to do before they code more content into the game that may only compound existing issues. Perhaps one day but not anyday.....soon.
