Server update? Seriously?

Somebody kindly explain to me the sense in taking down the EU servers for 3 hours during peak time on a Friday? I knew you guys were dumb and disinterested in your player base, but this plumbs whole new depths of stupidity.
I appreciate the patching of servers to improve the game. I mean, I just know your latest patch is going to fix so many issues right? New chat that is usable? A complete UI overhaul of the inventory and other menus? All bugged missions repaired? Kills with charged bolter actually counting towards your kill count? To name a few.
I will be happy to spend the first night of the weekend waiting to play if it means all these issues and more will be fixed................but they won't will they? But hey, feel free to advertise your next purchasable dlc while we wait for whatever cluster feck of a patch it is that couldnt wait until a quieter time of the week

There's no downtime that would please everybody. If you did it during a less active time of the week, someone that can only play during that time of the week would complain. Besides, there's a sort of sense in them doing it when there are a great number of people wanting to play. When all those people try to log in, they can see if the patch worked correctly for everyone. It's easier than testing it with a small number of people on Wednesday, that all can log in correctly with the patch, but when Friday comes around and a lot more people are trying to log in and they're all getting problems with the patch, and then they have to go back and fix the patch for the weekend players, instead of advancing with their DLC making. Just saves them time from having to go back and forth.
