EU prime time is the global peak on gaming services like steam, etc. It's probably the time of the highest overall activity in Defiance as well. Most companies would consider taking their service down during just that time window a big no no.

Trion usually brings EU servers down at a less busy time for small updates (the ones that don't have a significant chance of making the servers crash and burn). But given how long the servers are down for this one, it looks like it's a bigger deal on the backend than it looks on the surface. So they probably want to have everyone on board.

And hey, this patch may not fix the most annoying bugs, but it does fixed a couple significant ones.
