I love the FRC assault carbine. I think the external recoil reduction is the only mod that's probably a must. A controlled burst mod on a full auto weapon does increase the DPS a lot, it will increase the recoil but the external recoil reduction helps take care of that.
The barrel and scope mods I think are just a matter of preference.

I use A Rad Heavy and Fire assault carbine for my siege load out. I like the commando scopes on the heavy, as it has a great range and I can nail bomber crits when they're high up. The Heavy is my "go-to". I, absolutely, love this gun! controlled burst, external recoil, commando, and barrel depending on rolls. I usually use ionic as I tend to aim for crits predominantly.
