Maybe at first. But once they start getting a bunch of Orange guns from the Warmaster and realize that they can't use them, I see at least some people change their mind.

The fact that Arkbreaks may give me useless loot is a reason for me not to do Arkbreaks, not a reason for me to buy the DLC.

    edit: Also

    Are either of them stable?

If you have DLC 2, do Volge weapons drop from Lockboxes? Or is it only from Arkbreaker Arkfalls?

DLC2 definitely seems more worth it than DLC1, which isn't saying much. lol

However the daily/weekly rewards alone makes it worth it.
The daily gives about 500scrip, around the same in salvage, 3 keys and an arkfall spike.
The weekly gives about 1500scrip, around the same in salvage, 8 keys and an arkfall spike.
So even if you just log in every day, you'll get 5000scrip, the same in salvage, and 29 keys a week, just for logging in and claiming the rewards. It's basically a couple free lockboxes every month and some money.

On top of the access to use the new weapons, and more story quests than DLC1.
You even get to climb somewhere really high which is cool, but I don't won't to spoil it.

It just seems to me like they're trying to buy people into logging on.
You don't have to play to get 'treats', just show up.

Kinda takes that whole skill and pursuit aspect away from the experience for me.

Bread and circuses. It's worked so well in the past.
And then somebody burns the city down.

Nothing wrong with getting rewards just for showing up, especially in a game. It's not like you'll be swimming in currency and weapons because of this, and compared to their "patron" service with Rift, I'm kind of surprised at how good this is for just 1 DLC pack. lol

And for games that rely heavily on an in-game shop for revenue, you do kind of want to encourage people logging in as much as possible. I think it's fair.

Your heart is in the right place, no question.

The issue I have is that it doesn't encourage participation.
Which leads to : "We had 12 million people log in last week!!! (but only 1,200 actually played the game.)".

Which will lead to more discussions dragging TRION/DEFI through the muck over cooking the numbers. We don't get good press in the online game blogs/discussions now. Wait till we get to be part of the player base in THAT joke. How many new people are encouraged to play a game that makes them part of a joke?

The part in purple: No question. I just want them to encourage us with more of the stuff we saw in the trailers and at the debut. The good stuff that made you want to get in there - eviscerate badguys and dispense justice.
I want to see Bill Trost (again) interviewed in a Live Stream, and show us what he's doing on the game. It was him, and several of the other guys in the trailers with Trick that made me want to go out and give the game a try, I trusted those guys with my time and money.

I don't want to see the game hyped as just an online log-in for your allotment cheque.
Next thing you know - it'll be worth while to create 3 additional 'toons with the express purpose of them being state dependents with their hands out, funneling all the scrip and lottorybox loot into the main 'toon's account. No play, just a collection point for the buy-off.

It'll be just another exploit for some people to skim assets by just logging out/in +3 times to fulfill the obligation.

    Wait and see.
There will be talk of it being unfair to the people who didn't have time to log out/in multiple 'toons, just like people said that the EL weekend was unfair to people who couldn't play and wait for the vendors.
That was one 25 hour period. This will be every day forever until the servers die or they write a patch to stop it - causing a hue/cry over how unfair it was to take it away.
    These are just my opinions.

Silly you, thinking you're aloud to have a life outside of work. That's whats wrong with this company. Why couldn't he have his wife wait until after DLC2 to give birth?

I fear you don't see the big picture over the long run.

If a company has more work than it can accomplish - it either acquires enough people to handle the work, thereby keeping it's customer base and business, or it DOESN'T accomplish the work in a timely fashion, pisses off it's customer base who vacate the business, moving to a business that DOES cater to it's customers.

Holidays and time off are not surprises, but actually scheduled events. In the case of 'baby's', they tend to be known about weeks in advance. Holidays and specific days that occur on 'Weekends' are frequently known months if not years ahead of time.

If the guy who signs the cheques takes 2 weeks off, or heaven forbid - dies - I can almost guarantee you that people will still be paid mostly on time. There exists a 'Person of Delegated Authority'

'Work to be accomplished', 'Time off' and other such are accounted for by using 'Man-Hours' and 'Gantt Charts' to facilitate a 'Project Schedule'.
Don't get me started on 'Critical Path' and 'Long Lead items'.

These are all concepts that 'businesses' use to 'plan', 'schedule', 'borrow money' from lenders, and otherwise project future growth and P/L (Profit/Loss). Suffice it to say that schedulers have had this stuff knocked for decades. It aint rocket surgery anymore. Scheduling wasn't even rocket surgery when they started building rockets, either.

We aint flying by the seat of our pants in today's business world, and TRION is a business ostensibly run by 'Grown-Ups'.
At least their investors assume so.

    ** Bonus**
    Christmas is coming.
    Many people know it is.
Many people know WHEN it is.

Many OTHER people will be surprised when it happens.

Which group do we want to be in on December 24th?

And so that we're all still friends:
