Wouldn't you think that Trion would have run test server updates and grenade conversions, and all that? And while they might not have had the volume of test accounts that are on the live servers for such a test, that they would be able to reasonably extrapolate how long the process would take, identify and resolve all the issues in advance of the roll out?

Are there no project planners at Trion?

They weren't even coordinated enough to get Rynn voiced properly. There is no planning at Trion.

Most of the hate boys are what we like to call trolls. I thinks they really just wanna piss everyone else off cause they get some perverse satisfaction out of it. For being truly the first of its kind, I think Trion did a great job with defiance. I just wish they had known how great it could have been back before they released. I know they had a deadline with the show, but that should have been coordinated better. Hopefully the game will go the way of the show, get tons of financial backing, and season two will blow our minds.

These downtime are fairly common for MMOs. But, adding two hours for the grenade change is salt in the wound. It's like Defiance is actually the setting for some larger game that Trion plays - where they collect players together and then find different ways to piss them off.

I know right... They see we are pissed off about the down time and see it as an appropriate time to inform us it is not ready due to the very change we have been SHOUTING at them to leave off. Salt to the wound is an apt comparison.
