Reason to wait for 20+ people is simple....because most players can't dps their way out a wet paper bag.

Notice in that vid that all the players in that instance did min 2 mill each.

On on PC in NA prime time...people are struggling to do 200k! Like seriously, I participated in one fail last night and did more DPS than 7 other dudes COMBINED...lol?

Here's what I think, people are just there for weapon exp. Also, many are using BMGs b/c I do believe that the WM fight is one of the best places to level them.

Why are people NOT attacking Warmasters?

I summoned an ark fall earlier and when I tried to free the Warmaster to fight it - all the other players went nuts and started shooting me? Why?

They wanted you to wait for a full house before unlocking him. It's much more effective to take him on with some backup than trying the david -vs- goliath thing.

There were literally loads of folk, my map was almost entirely purple. How many is a full house?

The max is 20, if you had that many then its possible that they were too used to actually waiting for a full group.

There might be a reason why you are only to defeat him when the room is full.

Here is a video of us defeating the Warmaster with 8 people. Please notice: I think nobody there used Surge Bolter/Detonator

They're not useless if you don't violate a very basic tenet outlined in the guide and implicit in the information that Trion released on Major Arkfalls, i.e. you shouldn't break out the Warmaster until you have a larger group. It's all very well and good if you want to push your limits and see if you can take him down with only 8 players, but that in now way validates your claim that any method other than method 1 from the guide is useless in a conventional fight against the Warmaster.

I also noticed you all targeted the back instead of the right arm. I guess it's easier to hit since it remains fairly static and easy to hit outside of the burn phase being at the center of his body rather than at the more extreme end of his body movements while he discos on the ground. I noticed two things however in the video.

    1. During the burn phase the back normally has a much more limited degree of angle of attack than the arm and this resulted in the group being pretty close to one another during the burn phase. I'm wondering if this causes a lot more players getting downed in a larger group as they must be packed together pretty close and within the radius of attack of a player targeted by the Warmaster's bombs even when they're not.

    2. When he glitches and spins around to face the wall this is actually a good thing for the group because his back becomes like his arm was before, easily hit from a much wider range of angles of attack. Did you actually try and do this by having someone throw out a Decoy or was it just a fortunate glitch?

Finally, I have no idea why you would make such an outlandish statement about the Surge Bolter. It's basically a close competitor to the Wolfhound for high crit DPS with zero practical fallout damage loss, and there is beyond a doubt a player using one in your video (see @3:52)

The max is 24. The recommended minimum by the game developers themselves is 20.

They were probably all from the same clan and had an exact headcount and were trying to get additional clan mates to fill the few remaining slots. If you're on the PC open up your chat window and see if there is any team text chat. You can also ask them what the problem is in team chat by typing /team [insert chat here].
