Those of us complaining about bmgs in the Warmaster are more referencing people who are too lazy to aim and use the bmgs lock on instead of helping keep shields up or use a higher dps weapon.

This might be a great idea for another game but it is bad idea for this game. If you make it so there has to be a minimum number of players doing playstyle X, Y and Z for the event to succeed, that's not substantially better than requiring all players to engage in a singular kind of playstyle because, more often than not, you're not going to have enough players to fulfill each role because it's their preferred playstyle and will only be able to fill the ranks by forcing players to play in a way they don't want to play if the event is to be successful. Anything more flexible than that essentially becomes do whatever you want to do and the event will succeed mass PvE content. We already have mass player PvE content like that in Defiance. It's called "every other kind of mass PvE event in the game other than the Warmaster."

Beyond that let's talk reality here. That kind of coordination requires excellent lines of communication which is the exact opposite of what this game has. Again, if we're talking about a kind of flexibility in gameplay that allows for success without this kind of coordination, the only way an event is going to succeed like that is for it to be nerfed so that's indistinguishible from the rest of the PvE content in the game. If you don't nerf it that way, then it really will be impossible as a practical matter to succeed with the Warmaster. If you think it's hard with casual uninformed players becoming deadweight because they can't execute one playstyle right, you really need to think long and hard about how much more exponentially difficult the event would be with casual uninformed players becoming confused and clueless as to the why, when, wheres of what competent players are doing at the even to fulfill roles.

No, the complaining is because: (a) healing doesn't make much of a difference when it counts the most, i.e. most players are dying from the bombs and the BMG is never going to do enough healing over time to save a player from dying from them, (b) BMG's impair the ability to aim, and (c) anyone who is using the BMG to heal players is not doing damage to the right arm while engaging in a largely pointless endeavor.

Another problem I spotted today was people are starting to chill out in the spawn room, doing less damage than the guy playing ghostbusters, waiting out the timer for the loot/keys. I can only imagine this behaviour is going to increase. Maybe a 30 second timer (enough to resupply/change loadouts quickly), that kicks you out of the instance unrewarded if you don't drop back in would combat this.

This is their first attempt at a real boss, and I for one think they did a great job. But I'm going to set that aside for a moment.

I think this boss will flush out all of the things people will do in defiance when they are forced to min/max. This should cause them to look a lot more at weapon balance and effectiveness. You can't play with what you want largely because too many of the weapons are crap. Then, if you add on bad rolls, masteries, and synergies you have a big problem when it comes to bosses.

You want to run in with your charge blade, but your charge blade has no rolls what-so-ever, and it doesn't even have a skill system. You also want to use you BMG but it's crap healing and damage. Is it your fault that you want to play with an unfinished weapon, or their fault for not finishing it (or even putting it on their short list of things to do)?

This game is full of half finished pet projects that leave players wanting to use them but the requirements of the game says they can't - unless they want to be completely ineffective and die a lot. With fights like the WM it will force those items out into the open because using them will cause you to fail over and over and over until you finally learn that they suck and stop using them. And, fights like this will also cause them to finally take a serious look at these items and buff them - hopefully /crosses fingers.

Totally disagree, dps races are fun for about 10 secs, this game needs more variation in play styles, i firmly believe this is why the game gets boring and people move on, not everyone likes all content to be bullet sponges..

Agree with the communication, this game has the worst social setups i've ever played, no hyperbole, the games communication needs overhauls and needs them yesterday..

Good ideas by OP. I have put down spikes at a lot of arkfalls only to get inside and the warmaster has already been released. I think I have had a complete run-through only 3 or 4 times, very annoying.

I feel it is time for the game to go free-to-play just to attract more players. Lack of numbers is the biggest problem and with the new DLC further separating players into different content (PvP, contracts, seiges, arkfalls, ect...just look at how busy the map is) just ends in watering down the experience.

It used to take forever to get a PvP match, now it's just impossible.

This game needs a flood of newbies NOW.

all you guys whinning about not having legendaries guess what... you don't need them a simple smg with acid or radiation is all you need although I do suggest using blue or better. personally I run with a epic(purple rarity) Pulsar with radiation. and I consistently score 8th or better. so yea the warmaster uis a dps race but its not that hard to get a high dps weapon. and you can pic some up afrom the Reputation venders you don't have to wait for a rare drop. I've been in lots of warmaster instances and I realized real quick I couldn't use my shottys which I'm working on so I went to the menu and switched over to my team deathmach build which has my pulsar.
