    Text chat still garbage

You still have not fixed the vital text chat system. Why did you even bother bringing out the dlc.
    I wonder if I can say tit's.

4 weeks back, Trick said on a Live Stream that they weren't happy with the progress made on the chat system and would be bringing it out as a separate patch.
And they had to submit the DLC for PSN and XboX approval around that time, (week or so before then, maybe for approvals, but that's part of the whole separate issue of not far enough before to get it into the PSN store for our PS brothers and sisters).

Which brings us to your post/thread and gets us to the point of being able to say:

    Trick:
    • It's been an additional MONTH since you said that.
    • A month.
    • It's time.
    • Show your hand.
In closing, I'd like to say:
    It's been a month.
    These are just my opinions.
    I have lots of opinions.
Some of them, on occasion, people have agreed with.
I do not trust those people.

The chat does NEED fixing. It is extremely difficult to use. Extremely clunky. The MMO chats of the late 90's was/is better designed. I am getting tired of having to hit the enter button to keep track of what clan mates and people are saying.

It is as if whoever designed it purposefully made it as painful and frustrating to use as possible. Then somehow either convinced someone or just snuck it into the game. Also No mail system Trion? Do you realize how hard it is to recruit clan people or manage larger groups of people?

Please fix this. Do not make me beg! I might. and then all illusions of my personal pride will be stripped away.

My personal opinion of TRION's dev team at this point is that they have 'Programmers' working there, but no real 'Gamers who program'.

Programmers can write the code, and (frequently) fix code.

Gamers who program can write code that's useful to the end user IN THE GAME.

Since they can't/don't write stuff that's useful to us as GAMERS, Q.E.D.

    Our next topic is:
"People who manage 'program planning and development', Vs GAMERS who manage 'GAME planning and development'.

You may notice a commonality in my topics.....

I think you might be right Crasher. That opinion and concept makes sense to me!

I'm really hoping what they're currently working on is something practical, and efficient, just enough to let us communicate and see what's being said as its said....

Would be nice to have an update on it too

I completely agree, even primitive Java chats on Web sites are better than Defiance's one, I don't even bother to check it anymore, sometimes I met nice players and noticed only afterwards that they asked me something long ago

Although... if I may be the Devil's advocate for a second, there's something deeply relaxing of not having to read the usual mmo BS and in coop missions everyone does his job and no one can say nasty things or whine, thanks to this broken chat system so "dungeons" are more enjoyable this way (but lack of communication is possible because dungeons are easy and only final bosses could need sometimes an explanation).

Until recently I could not tell you good chat from bad chat on the PS3, however after joining 3WT I now chat a lot in Defiance and with my friends in many other games online. I have come to the understanding that Defiance hands down is the worst when it comes to chat. I play GTA5 and battlefield 3 and many other online games and never have it cut out. I try never to use text chat in this game as it only sometimes pops up for me to read and I’m not going to try to fight and read at the same time.

It is worse when trying to communicate with clan mates Mirabella. It is one thing when you are rolling through the country side by yourself, quite another when trying to organize groups and chit chat with fellow clan mates. I personally never had a problem with it solo, I mean why would I? now? REALLY annoying.

What bother me is that this version of chat is the second version.
Trion's devs already did something to revise the chat system, and they did something worst.

Will the next version be better or worst again...?
