Care about us, the whining, nerf crazed, complainers that expect a working game 24/7...
no i don't think they do.
These are just my opinions.
I have lots of opinions.
Some of them, on occasion, people have agreed with.
I do not trust those people.

I think Trion employees want to care, however due to the instant layoffs after release are overwhelmed by the work.
I bet they continiously struggle by badly commented coding of people who got layed off.
Everybody who ever programmed knows what pain it is to get something working what you haven't created by yourself.
Trion simply has an incredibly stupid management which layed off half of the team when the game still wasn't even semi-finished.

Okay, before this gets locked a second time... how about some real logic.
Of course they care about it. They may not be doing everything correctly, but to say they don't care about the game is laughable. Look at it this way:
They could just let the game die, screw things up on purpose to push people away, and eventually sully their name with every customer and throw any chance of people trusting titles from them in the future into the toilet.
-OR-
They could continue trying to get things right, correct things they've done wrong in the past, and turn the game into something they're truly proud of. This would bring more people into the game, trusting their company, and eventually earn more money on said product.
I understand that there are many people here who just want to be mad and hate the game. That's fine. However, a bit of understanding on how a business truly works and paying attention to actual reality, instead of this one-sided version that far too many here want to beat with a 2x4, would really help the situation.
I'm a realist. I see this game for the positives and negatives. I see what they've done right and what they've done wrong. This kind of subject isn't realism. It's hellbent, biased hatred. Be mad at what they've done wrong, but thinking they don't care about the game or the people who spend money on it is outright ridiculous and unrealistic.

I don't think Trions management is stupid (maybe they were early on), i think they are in trouble, looking at this game as is, it feels like Trion is treading water.
I hope i'm wrong but thats the feeling i get from Trion, even in Rift.
I really enjoy this game, but from my perspective they are doing as you've stated, at least in many peoples views.
Honestly i feel they are doing exactly what you've said here. That's how it seems as an outsider and player.
I understand how some could feel this way, but I present the difference between Trion and EA as an argument to this idea. When EA wants a game to die, they drop it. They don't respond to their own forums, customer emails, or bug reports and simply wait for the legal time to pass before they shut down their servers. Syndicate is a prime example.
I would think, and this is truly just my opinion, that if they were actively working to kill this game, we wouldn't be seeing weekly Live Stream events highlighting the game. We also wouldn't be seeing three hotfix patches within a week of a DLC, nor would there be Blog posts and Trion employees answering posts here. There is nothing in the EULA agreement that says we are entitled to any of the above, in fact, quite the opposite.
Again, I'm not saying that the complaints are unwarranted. I agree with much of what people say is wrong with this game. What I disagree with is the method in which much of those complaints are delivered.

Well, if I were give speculation on what's going on, they're a bit lacking in the prioritizing department. We really only see a few people here on the forums, this is true. I've had conversations with Dah quite a few times through PM's about all this and hopefully some of that has made it beyond her to the rest of their team. I've spent many, many years working in management and customer service, and in many cases these kinds of things come down to taking larger bites than one can handle.
As for the prioritizing, I'm pretty sure that most of us here want the same things. A stable game with content that changes things up to avoid repetition. Had they come out and said a few months ago that they realized the on-going stability problems were of paramount importance, the community would have embraced them putting off the DLC releases to focus the team on fixing this. I know I would have applauded them for doing so, even if it meant they were going to break the promise of 5 DLC's in the first year from release. It would have shown a strong resolve for what the Defiance community wanted.
I also understand that for a company to jump out in the path of an oncoming train, so to speak, isn't exactly easy nor up to the development team. I'm certain that the owner wouldn't want any negative light to be shined on them. However, it would have been much better for them to accept and openly admit their shortcomings than to have this go on for as long as it has with very little admittance or apology for said lack of action.
