Critical update death - plz help, can't play game

I went on vacation from 8th-18th and went thru all the recent patching update...
As i saw the new contents the dlc presented on the update list, i contemplated on buying the DLC

Spent a better part of 4 hours of the game DL'ing and synching and then towards the end a "CRITICAL" box popped up saying "Failed to install necessary game file. Please try again." Go back to Start screen, and it continues to pop up w/o attempting. Wholly restarted game, same thing. Restarted Xbox, same thing. Plz tell me that there's a simple fix planning to come, vs having to delete game and re-DL a terrabyte for the next 24 hours for the "chance" of this game to work for me...

I would love to play the game i paid for....

try deleting the newest patch in your defiance folder. Then run the game again. If it repatches and lets you into the game, then you should be ok. But apon entering the game after the patch works, if you see mostly black texturing, then you will have to dashboard and restart the game. It will then re-install some game files (but say installing Defiance, even though it does a quicker install this time) then it will patch again. So if it all works you are talking around 4 hour Dl, depending on your dl speed of course.

xbox 360 delete game and reinstall game then patch worked for me on ARK dlc release takes a while but so does trying to install patch again and again......and again......

did look in the game folder and found 1 patch listed as "Corrupted"
so did delete that and attempted to repatch... unfortunately still got same Critical error box

So begrudgingly deleted all patches off and do fresh install

Didnt sit and stare at the new install system doing its work, but seemed like it lumpsummed all the patches together and synched all of them together too, instead of individualistically. Unexpectedly, the process took only about 2 hours long.... works good now
