It would make a lot more sense than that stupid dot which shows you what nano the other guy has equipped, at least I think thats what it means.

I have friends that are not in my clan....and they show up as blue dots too. Seen this many times, I'll be at an ArkFall and see a blue dot....I check my clan list on the quick menu and no one is on....then I see it's someone from my Xbox friends list.

When I point my targeting reticule at a non-clan friend they change from purple to some weird sea-green color. So some mechanics are already in place for this. I agree with everyone here. Let it be a separate color all the time.
Oh... you and your "Ideas", next think you'll be wanting Elites and Bosses to show as a different color from regular enemies.
I'd just be happy if the blue crystals stopped showing up on my arcfall maps, if I can't shoot it it shouldnt be a red dot.
