Monitor or TV/ Make and Model: BenQ 24" XL2420T 120Hz
Cable Connection Method: DVI
Graphics Card Make / Model: ASUS GeForce GTX 570
Description of the issue:
- CTD as soon as I click Settings from the launcher
- CTD as soon as I click Settings from the ingame menu
- CTD as I hit ESC in-game (This only happens during the tutorial part of the game. After the tutorial part ESC button just returns me to the ingame menu)
No error message or anything, the application just disappears.
Forced disable of VSYNC in NCP doesnt help.
Forced monitor sync of 60mhz doesnt help.
Swapping to a singellink DVI for 60mhz output *Fixed the ESC CTD in tutorial part BUT doesnt help on the CTD when pressing settings
Not everyone has a HDMI output on their graphiccard!
Hate to sound snide, but when I posted about this on the alpha forums, and I posted all of my reproduction steps. Why was all of that ignored?
Monitor or TV/ Make and Model: ASUS VG236H
Cable Connection Method: (DVI)
Graphics Card Make / Model: Nvidia GeForce 660
Description of the issue: Accessing the settings menu, it crashes directly to desktop instantly with no error. Setting to 60 hz does NOT resolve this issue.
I have a setup where I have a 120hz primary monitor and a 60hz secondary monitor. The problem only exists when I launch the game as my 120hz as the primary, does NOT matter what the hz is set to. If I set my 60hz monitor to be the primary, i can launch the game, I can access the settings menu, everything works properly. If I set Defiance into windowed mode, I can drag the window onto the screen of my 120hz monitor and it continues to function properly. Of course, if I set it to full screen mode (which is what I want to play the game as), it will display it on the 60hz monitor this way.
I had provided all of this information, and the exact order, steps, that went into far more detail than this post in Alpha. There were several DOZEN threads in Alpha about this issue that were also ignored. I recall seeing a post shortly before the end of Alpha that a fix would be in place before launch, and I find out that the issue is unresolved. I will not be playing Defiance nor recommending it to anyone until this gets fixed. Hopefully it will be fixed sooner than later. And I really don't want to be switching the positions of my two monitors, and gaming off of my 60hz monitor in it's current location is not feasible, it is there so I can glance at it to check forums, or have youtube videos running that I am listening to and occasionally glancing at, not something I use to watch for multiple hours.
EDIT:
Since it seems I can still access the alpha forums. Here is the link to my post with the full troubleshooting info that I did. Which I posted on 3/20/2013
