I decided to read back over through my posts from the past year. Lots of great memories. Thought I would do a remember when.

Our major complaint for Arkfalls was people driving around and squishing the skitterlings before they could bite and weaken the crystal. Heck just the guys that did nothing but drive around and around.

The SAW was the most powerful weapon, and we had troves of threads calling for its nerfment.

Complaining about people complaining about people complaining. Haven't seen a good "fan boy" vs "whiner" thread in a while.

Trying to figure out why Charlie stood where he stood, and then the patch that took him away.

I know it still has a way to go, but the game has come a long way.

I remember just before launch after the console beta me and my friend started a thread which listed stupid reasons we had to cancel preorder.

Legitimate one? "EGO won't shut up? Preorder cancelled!"

I honestly don't remember calls for SAW nerfment that weren't griefers just trying to jekk with players.
The SAW was hardly used in PvP by anyone who knew better techniques than standing around blazing away and saying I'm a Target, Shoot me.
The SAW was used in PvE to stitch great big silhouettes AROUND targets like in old Bugs Bunny cartoons... 1 out of 6 shots hit the target unless they were behind you, and then you stood a chance of hitting them with 2 out of 6 shots.
Damned shot-out barrels are worthless. I can shoot better IRL over the phone.

The Arkfall griefing at the time gave me the idea for this video.

When they said Charlie was going to be removed I thought it was a fair idea to give him a send off.

There were some other good videos for poor old Charlie made by other forum members as well.

I remember when PvP was ruled by shotguns proccing syphon 4 times per shot and full auto immunizers, and the associated flame wars about it. Sadly things are even worse now (surge bolters rule even harder, and the PvP community is dead).

I remember when people were complaining that Volge were too hard and needed to be nerfed.

I remember my joy the day when Trion fixed the bug that made your last perk unequip every time you changed phases or servers.

I remember weapon levelling sessions with friends against the San Quentin hulker, when we would sometimes stop and chat at one of those spots where the hulker can't attack you, while that big monster was just standing there, watching us.

I also remember fighting my first hulker, at an emergency in Madera. Couldn't do it by myself, so after dying a couple times I asked around for assistance, and two other players helped me take him down.

I remember the patch, shortly after launch that Trion messed up and gave us all extra inv slots, free scrip and keycodes and weapons. Within minutes of people posting on the forum about our free gifts the servers were taken down again and Trion promptly took back all the freebies. lol

I remember everyone driving around in that nice looking red dodge (hardly see anyone with that anymore)

I remember full Shadow Wars going on all the time

I remember playing Freight Yard at any time of the day, even in the nights

I remember times without the Surge Bolter, when the variety was wider and you had a chance in PvP with the weapons you like

I remember two major Arkfalls in one phase at the time (actually forgot about that one until I saw some old screens of myself)

I remember when adding Mod Slots cost you a fortune

There are still a lot of bugs they haven't fixed. They messed up a lot on the last weeks but they really did change and fix some things.
Defiance has a long way to go and I hope it gets the attention needed so that we will still be able to play it in a year or two.

BTW: Nice idea this thread. I also play since day one and I really had to think about what was different now than on the release.
PvP was very clear to me, but for some other things, I really had to think about because they are now taken for granted.
I hope some others hop in too. I like to think about the "old times".

Still love the game, still look forward to getting on and shooting stuff after work.

As for Vehicles at Arcfalls, we do still get that, not as bad as it used to be but it still happens. I always thought the Devs should have made vehicles take weapons damage at arcfalls, it would take care of the Deathrace2000 guys and the "let me park my truck at the crystal" guys at the same time, plus it would be FUN.
