Patience and nice words have been tried for over half a year now. And the game has degraded continuously since day 1. What those of us who play the game for several months now have learned is that patience and nice words obviously don't work.

What's going to happen if Trion doesn't come around is that people will make use of uglier and uglier wordings to finally get Trion not only to listen, but to undertake the necessary steps to rid the game of its many bugs and to add more content. IMHO they're on the right track with the latter, but it's really tiny drip by tiny drip when they should use buckets to fill the barrel. It really shows that Defiance isn't an MMO, but an online shooter.

Bioware and Mass Effect 3 are a good example. The fans were dissatisfied with how ME3 ended. They voiced their opinions on the forum and got ignored. It very soon turned into a shytestorm. The two CEOs of Bioware felt butthurt and left. And the players got an extended ending. Did they ask for one? Yes, but not how Bioware interpreted it. What players wanted was that the decisions they made in the two prequels mattered and influenced how ME3 ended. Bioware ignored that.

What is going on in these here forums right now is quite harmless. I am surprised people are giving Defiance that much leeway. If the powers that be keep ignoring the players, the atmosphere in the forums here will get much worse and even more (of the wrong) heads at Trion will roll. There already were massive layoffs a couple of months ago.

This is the crux of it though. It is an MMO. it just isn't an MMORPG that a lot of ppl want it turned into.

Personally, I love that it's not RPG. It is exactly what it was touted to be, or at least used to be, before a large chunk of the player base quit. Now it's more like a:

"Not quite so massive, nor as multiple player as we'd like, online third person shooter"

My only issue is the stability, chat, storyline, and more map. I could give a rats patootie about the rest! If I wanted even half of what a lot of ppl on here whine and moan about, I'd play the f uckin' Sims.

My only issue is that Defiance developers can't do basic math and obviously spreadsheets are way beyond them too. How hard is it to write rules regarding what rolls can and cannot happen on weapons? Not very if you did any kind of planning before implementing the feature. Seriously though, if they even put a small amount of effort into thinking about the decisions they make, this game could be amazing. Unfortunately, they spend more effort thinking of ways to break grenades and increase the damage of the surge bolter instead.

    I'll say it again...

    Trion, are you there?
Trion, this is Houston, do you copy?
Please don't tell Houston you are drunk again and doing cartwheels in 0 gravity.
    Trion, do you copy?
Well listen Trion, we are receiving some weird readings on one of our monitors here and would like you to confirm.
    Trion, do you copy?
This is SERIOUS, Trion we need you to respond. Do you copy?
    -Audible long sigh-
Alright Trion, don't listen to Houston if you don't want to, that is entirely up to you.
According to our monitors you don't have much longer before being vaporized by instant particle reversal into the 4th dimension and then we will have to once again rescue you with picks and shovels.
    Trion, do you copy?

To the readers of this fine thread - prepare all of yourselves to be burned in the upper atmosphere here shortly.

Are you trolling to see this again:

    "Roger, Houston!

We're showing that this thread has lost too much relative velocity and is now locked into a decaying orbit. For that reason we are going to manually guide it into a high angle entry path and hopefully burn it up in the upper levels of the atmosphere before it can impact the surface and cause any damage. Some of you in the latitudes below the Arctic Circle may see a brilliant flash for a bit, and we hope you take that opportunity to make a New Year's wish!"

    along with a possible time-out?
