It's disappointing that Trion known for rift, would be lazy when it comes to the PC version. The PC needs a proper chat system. There isn't even a general chat channel, as you can only speak in proximity and without speach bubbles. I do have a microphone, but considering the voip appears to be broken, I guess it's not much use right now.
Calling Defiance Chat horrible is like calling the Grand Canyon a ditch. It is by far the worst chat system in the history of online games. We would have been better off if we had gotten 2 soup cans and a ball of string in the Defiance game box.

I don't know the details of this game's chat system but I have to imagine that a text-based chat system has far less bandwidth overhead than a built-in voice chat system does. I'm not against voice chat for those who want to use it. But I am against games like this wasting effort on a built-in system when there are plenty of third-party VOIP alternatives available.
- They need to add chat bubbles (give option to turn off or on)
- They need to have chat stay open longer once a message pops up and give an option to have it always stay open.
And a global/whole area chat mayby?
And a trade channel? You know, all the usual channels you would find in an MMO.
