Use a SMG with bio effect - slows them down and can also be used on other enemies during the arenas.

Lolz use a detonator and blow them up it is very easy

surge bolter takes just about 0 skill and is almost impossible to not kill the skitterling

Golden skitterlings always spawn in the same spot for an entire wave. For example, in the first wave of the fourth arena, they spawn on the ground, directly on the right of your spawn. If you can find that spot (pay attention to the "skitterling spawn" sound), you can kill up to 4 in a single wave by using a detonator / rocket launcher / any powerful and accurate weapon. I believe that you also need to kill a certain number of enemies before they start spawning, but once they've started, the next one will spawn at a specific time interval (~30 seconds) after you've killed the previous one.

Much thanks. Also, for the guy who asked about points and drops, they have drops and are worth either 200 or 300 points... I forgot which. Either way, I've now managed to kill a few more.

has been a while that i maxed my rep with thorn liro but i played EVERY arena with an incinerator detonator+ammo and bug guns.
always used blur too. i found the golden bugs didnt prove too difficult to run down while setting them alight.
3 shots perhaps. just have to keep your eye on the target.
