Wow.... this is very very sad news. If this is the case, I'm going to be extremely disappointed.

Heh, yeah. I have TSW, I enjoy the story quite a bit and that's why I did only the main quest in Defiance thinking it was okay like TSW. Problem was, I didn't stay long with TSW since the combat felt too unnatural for me ---
Hopefully Trion releases some DLC soon to keep the story going.
Almost Rank 6 roller and i've been doing all the missions as they come clearing the map from right to left then moving down to the bottom. There's also the challenges like time trial & rampage in addition to the side missions. Some people just fancy certain things but there's more content available if you seek it which is always nice.
Don't be insulted because i don't wanna explain myself, i was probably joking anyway.
Sorry about that. I said it felt like an FPS because in an FPS, you beat the game in 24 hours max. I know it's a third person shooter. Maybe I should look for a single player game I suppose but I only know how to train but right now it feels like there's no point to keep going, just my personal feelings.
Yeah I guess, sorry I was a little harsh there reading back on it, but hate all the blind hate on this game, but yeah, if your not interested in ark falls/PvP etc then this is kinda a silly purchase for you :P I mostly bought it for the PvP so I'm fine with short story mode
Well maybe look into Guild Wars 2 thats a fun one to. At least you can level a lot of characters to level 80.
well this guy on twitch tv is on what looks to be the final story mission and his Ego rating is 289, what will he do for the other 4711? seems as though they rushed this one out. I mean it only took about 12 hours to finish the game that seems short for any game. If PVP is all that is left i really dont see this game keeping that many people for very long.
If you play just the story and finish in 12 hours that's is pretty standard for any game. Skyrim is about 8 hours last I checked just straight through no deviating. Now if you play the game as the dev intended and like most people doing side quest, exploring, leveling, looting then that time extends to infinite. There are also challenges and major/minor ark drops which I know can't be done alone.
Is there any end game content whatsoever, such as grinding for weapons/mods or ranked PvP?
Not sure about the PVP part but I'm sure grinding for weapons/mods will fit your definition of late game (not sure if grinding bosses/raiding is done though). Problem is that the weapons are pretty balanced and you probably won't notice too much of a difference when using a purple gun and a normal gun. There isn't much variation between the two except a couple of "perks" like 1% accuracy from what I see.
