I'll withhold my final judgement until I see what season 2 is about.
If there will be more DLC, if they ever do plan to port it to XB1/PS4 etc etc.
If it will ever "fully" go F2P.

All I know is the game had bad direction and management at the start which made is an INCREDIBLY rough start, not to mention that it seems to have been rushed.

I understand what Trick is trying to do after he took over, but to basically change the core functions of a game AFTER it's launched is clunky, hard and will always anger people.

Had this game launched after all 5 DLCs have been released, people would probably be loving it, but with it's bad launch, changing major mechanics and so-so community interaction it's hard for a lot of people to look at it and say "Yeah. This is a really good game."

I think season 2 would be a good chance for them to "reboot".
Go fully F2P, add the DLCs to the bit shop, put the CE in the bit shop and sell it for $10 worth of bits. Add some sort of loyalty rewards like Rift.
Port the game to next gen systems with HD textures etc.
That's what I think they should do.

However it comes down to money, and who knows how much money Trion is putting into this game that could've been, but we'll see. Again. I'm waiting until all 5 DLCs are out and we find out what they are doing for "season 2" to give a final judgement, but I still remain hopeful.

Personally I really enjoy Defiance. I have been playing MMORPGs for a long time and so I was hesitant to get into the game since it's a FPS and I have not really played many FPS games. I watched the first episode of the show when it first aired and I was not to impressed so I did not continue to follow the show. A couple months ago though, I was bored and looking for a new game to try. I noticed that Defiance was available for $10 and decided to give it a shot. I was instantly hooked. Over the course of the next few weeks I purchased the DLC's and I play the game almost daily. I have since watched the entire first season of the show and it got much better as the story progressed in my opinion.
I do believe several things were implemented badly with both the show and the game. First, many people who are not gamers are not interested in even checking out the show once they hear it is linked to a game. It seems that the show is not marked effectively to non-gamers. Second, the game has a dwindling population. I believe that Trion should simply drop the $10 and call the game F2P. If people like the game and stick around most will pick up the DLC's and who knows, possible even get some bits. This will bring more people into the game increasing sales and preventing the population from getting to small. Third, it would be a good idea to communicate regularly with the players of the game. A simple rule requiring everybody involved in this games development at Trion to respond to 1 forum post per day would take only minutes and the players would be much happier.

The biggest thing people don't realize about this game is that PvE in Defiance is training wheels for the PvP in the game.

WRONG. So wrong it's epic. Co-op game, all about co-op side of pvp. Been stated since day 1. This is not a PvP game. Nor should it be. Nor do any of us who purchased a co-op game, want it to be. Thank you for listening to the description of the game you bought.

@drewbud where do you get these points from? do you just pluck them out of thin air? your a fan boy we all get it that's your choice. But trion said this is a pvp and a pve game just because you don't wanna do pvp does not mean the game does't get played like that by others and the fact the game comes with a pvp mode means in fact yes it is a pvp and pve game.
