When we use the overcharge Ego ability, our weapons become glowy and red. Perhaps it's the aftermath of them having charged it up. It might linger after it drops due to them having had used the ability?

No, I use cloak and it still happens. Usually on white items.

Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

Drop items have one aura that indicates the rarity, white, green, blue I guess purple and orange but I have never seen those drop on ground. In addition to that some have a red aura above the original color and I always thought it indicated that they had an elemental effect

I'd meant that the enemy may have an ability LIKE overcharge that does it.

I picked up one in a mission which was like an instance. It was great, had a shield all around me and I would melee with the weapon. It was awesome. Unfortunately, once I open the door to leave the instance, the weapon dropped to the ground and I couldn't take it with me.

Im pretty sure(80% sure) its because you didnt visually see the item drop so its trying to catch your attention to an item that you may want to look at.

my clan and i were trying to figure this out tonight as well. this is what we have come up with so far.

it is NOT limited to the effect on the weapon, since all that we saw were fire, electric, bio, and so on.
it is NOT limited to certain types of items, we saw every weapon type having the effect at one point or another.
it is NOT limited to the rarity of the item, we saw the effect on white, green, blue, and purple qualities.

it does seem to happen when the item is dropped by the "sub-boss" of a mission as we did not see the effect on anything dropped off the little single shot kill mobs.
it does also happen to the single use items but the drops in question are NOT the single use items.

i cannot confirm if it is related to the item being mod-able or not so someone who has seen the effect on both types please confirm

a dev response would b nice because i am starting to think it is just a bug, since there is no real reason for the effect on the dropped items
