Weapons effectiveness guide (WIP)

I've a 7th Legion Wanyu blue, pump shotgun.
Rolls a 22 round magazine.
Flame nano.
With perks, regularly does 2500-3500 damage per shot.
Overcharge and damage spike, and it's double.
Still need to pull a barrel mod.

Best SMG = VOT Pulser with Syphon nano

I just did a Matron Arkfall a little bit ago. Only two other people tackled this thing. I ended up with 434 kills by the time it was done and that VOT Pulser was the ONLY thing I used. Well, I tossed a few grenades, too...

Best Grenades = Cluster

Best Shotgun = VBI CS-X Cluster Shot for long-range, VBI TACC Auto-Shotgun for close up

Best Sniper Rifle = FRC Bolt Action Repeater, followed closely by the Headshot Custom Bolter

Best Pistol = For going against the WM I'll ALWAYS use the Wolfhound, but I'm pretty happy with my VBI HP-5 Wolverine for normal battles

Best AR = VBI Assault Rifle, but the FRC Assault Carbine does the job pretty nicely, too.

Best Semi-Auto Sniper = Splitshot

Those are pretty much all of my "go to" weapons. I'll occasionally use others, but the ones listed above have become my favorites.

For example, while wolfhounds and other spammy semi automatic weapons are great, I personally have a horrible time with them due to my arthritis screaming at me if I try to tap the mouse keys fast enough to make those weapons worth the pain.

For me, I simply prefer a weapon that I can hold the button down until it's magazine is empty and just concentrate on aiming and moving. Less pain = more fun.

you may want to look into that. maybe bind down or up to fire and leave the other alone for weapon switching and just use the mwheel to fire without spamming the mouse1.

I spent a few days trying to get my Logitech G400 mouse to do that, and I have no idea why it didn't work. I made a repeating mouse key press function, and set it to one of the keys, and it worked just fine in everything I tested it on EXCEPT Defiance. I finally just gave up trying to figure it out. Maybe the game doesn't fully support my mouse, or it's bugged, who knows. I'm not that tech savvy.

I play on the PC, that never occurred to me. I keep forgetting this game was designed for game consoles.
That would suck if the game indiscriminately prevented the use of not just cheat programs but legitimate accessibility functions and features of the PC and it's devices.

I want to say if it presses the mouse faster than every 60ms, Defiance will ignore it. YMMV.

I would have to agree that the OP's format may not be the best method due to the very application specific nature of what is effective. Perhaps better than saying "best pistol = X, and best AR = Y", i think a better format, might be along the lines of:

best single target dps: X, Y, Z
best AoE: A, B
best crit damage/best for WM after armor break:
effective while moving:
etc.


and listing several weapons effective at each role...this would also be useful for a beginner who maybe doesn't have every weapon, allowing them to select the best ones they have for different situations. After all, pump shotgun X might be the "best" pump shot gun, but its probably worthless for WM. Some effective loadout suggestions for certain events (Afflicted Sieges, Volge Sieges, Dark Matter Arkfalls, Casti Arena etc) could be helpful too.
