Munches popcorn decides to throw two cents into the fray.

First off MOST if not ALL collector EDITION CRAP has to be preordered. WHY? Because as a business why would I stock $150 item that may or may not move at all? If it doesn't move that $150 stuck on the shelf if i ordered 10 of them that $1500 that i can't use because it being used sitting on a shelf collecting dust.

The problem with the special ed complainers is they expect every type of collectible to be able to be purchase on a whim. News FLASH Collector editions are what they are COLLECTORS EDITION. Which means someone with two brain cells would realize this means a limited amount.

But Gamestop didn't advertise DEFIANCE enough. Said the Half brained idiot. Look first off unless your in advertising you need to shut up. Business advertise what they deem as a sure sale in terms of volume. That and it is also the fault of the maker / publisher of the title to put how much advertisement they want into their product.

You blame Gamestop for not advertising Defiance. Why because they are a 3rd party distributor just like Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart. How much advertising did you see about Defiance with those distributors?

I mean seriously you have to be some special kinda of dumb not to realize that it's not Gamestop's fault for the near nonexistent advertisement of this game.

But I can't haz my ultimate edition. Sorry can't help you there heck I didn't know about Defiance until about 4 week before the beta. I bet the majority of all Gamestop employees are in the same boat. Hell even my local Gamestop manager didn't know about it until some went in about 8 days before release to preorder it and he's a big shooter fan.

So if your complaining about poor advertisement on Gamestop part just stop it They arn't supposed to post advertisement unless the higher ups say so. And from what i'm gathering from this Defiance wasn't even on Gamestop Corporate radar.

Thats bull. Every game stop i go to has WAY too many extra copies of "collectors editions" months after release for even cheaper then the normal game half the time. The thing is I don't want to have to wait ages to see it there when it should have been properly stocked since it was advertised as a GS exclusive. I personally am not complaining about the lack of advertising but rather the lack of the lame excuse that "if you dont pay for it ahead of time they wont have it" printed on their adverts when they clearly should have it since that is now their official stance on things. And bringing up other distributors is pointless as they did not claim to have exclusive content that they could not provide as of release to people on such a huge scale. On top of all of my complaints there are people even still who did actually pre-order the game weeks in advance and still have not received it. What excuse do you have for them? If this title was so "under the radar" for higher ups why would it even have a GS EXCLUSIVE bundle to begin with when it's clear they could not provide it?

And you know how they have them? I'll give you the best example I can.

Back when Dead Space 2 came out my gamestop ran out of the Ce editions with the plasma cutters at the midnight release. They had to ORDER more Ce editions from EA to cover it cause alot of people came in that night and paid it off in full without a pre-order.

Months after Dead Space 2 launched EA had extra Ce editions so they sent them out to stores like Gamestop to sell.

It scares me that I live in a world where gamers would rather have their voice chat working instead of the game working correctly.

If Ten people pre-order a game. They are only going to order ten copies. If two more people want to buy the game on launch day they are SOL cause they have to wait for the next shipment. Or if it is the case of a CE they have to wait for the dev/publisher to make a new CE to sell.

It scares me that I live in a world where gamers would rather have their voice chat working instead of the game working correctly.

Okay, for starters, not once did I call anyone "idiots", not even op. If you're gonna put in your quips, the least you can do is do it in a civil and dignified manner. I came in here level headed and stated my issue on the matter, because Op in shorter terms blamed everyone in the US for not pre-ordering something that most people didn't even know existed till after the beta. He also placed Gamestop on this pedestal, that it, as a whole company, can do no wrong. While he can vouch for his A team, he cannot vouch for stores within the entire US, and shouldn't try. It is unfair to the consumer who didn't know until last minute.

In all honesty, I don't even understand this entire thread's point. It was obviously made to defend his team of associates, when no one put his team into question. Like I continue to stress, Op cannot vouch for the entire Gamestop umbrella. In some cases associates failed to acknowledge or even describe the Ultimate edition when people were pre-ordering. In some cases, associates were completely apathetic to the game itself, when people came into preorder the game. Op cannot vouch for every single one of these instances, and Op shouldn't just say "Oh well you know some people are just gonna be rude like that, get over it." That is not the way retail works. Gamestop, specifically, is supposed to be customer based first. What I mean by this, is the whole idea of gamestop is to be chatty and helpful with the customers, who then in turn become regulars and spend more money. It's the courtesy that's supposed to come with gamestop, as their selling point because the consumer can go to any store, or online to buy this game. Gamestop employees are also supposed to generally know what games are coming out, and if a consumer is buying certain games, to push for a sale of a game like that coming out. For example, if someone's buying pokemon games, the associate should pitch the latest pokemon game. The reason I can say this, is because it's what associates are trained to do, it's in the training manual. I know because I worked at Gamestop for 3 years, and while working there, our store went from being the lowest rated to the highest rated in customer experience for our district. So if we're putting our credentials out there, there's mine. Do I expect them to know every single niche game coming out? No, but as op himself said, this was advertised on syfy, this was advertised on their little tv. The blame game can go both ways.

    Back to the specific points:
    • While it's on the fault of some of the consumers, it's also the fault on some of the associates.
    • Ultimate Edition, whether it be corporate's choice, or ignorance to the game, was not advertised properly, so people have a right to be mad.
    • Making a post about "people crying" about gamestop doesn't work for every single instance of each complaint, that op decided to link this thread to. (i.e. Issues with Gamestop.com not shipping games at the correct time. This is a completely separate issue, that stores don't control, and therefore irrelevant to this post)
    • OP. CANNOT. VOUCH. FOR. EVERY. GAMESTOP. EXPERIENCE. So if people are mad, with good reason about their specific gamestop, op shouldn't call them a crybaby and blame them for a bad customer experience. In retail you're trained to know that the customer is almost always right, and if people are mad about something, making a post and calling them out, is not the way to handle things.

Thats actually most likely Trion's fault which they addressed in their patch notes yesterday about people not having all their items
