Frack , no...
Don`t give them ideas to charge things for the price they are charging for the legendary whatever they call it. NO.
Not even for a lower price, it`s outrageous.
So its ok to to use immoral business practice and rip people off because they will buy it? that's basicily what they are saying at trion.
Well hell people buy crack all the time but that dosnt change the fact its wrong to sell it. Sure theres a difference in online and real life. But crooked business is the same, And dosnt change the fact no matter what side of the spectrum its on.
Wrong is still Wrong
And producing these subpar dlc's along with the overpriced items and then the blatant 100 dollar box is why the very people (players) who love this game are turning away from it almost daily now.
But hey they making a buck right so the data shows its ok.
Life is a big enough gamble without gambling with your life.
Selling crack is only "wrong" because it is illegal. It is illegal because the people that make laws have deemed it dangerous to the population their laws apply to.
On the other hand, selling Alcohol, Tobacco, Peanuts, and even Gluten is not wrong, even though there are some people that have dangerous problems with them. This is because the people that make laws see that they can still make a lot of money from taxing the sales without killing off an unacceptable portion of the people their laws apply to, and allows them to keep making laws.
Some people may have dangerous problems that make them think they have to collect all the items ASAP or have the most power in the game by any means necessary. Paying for these items in a store is a step easier/less dangerous than paying a goldfarmer/itemfarmer for it, which is a step easier than hacking someone's account and stealing the items themselves, which is a step easier than earning it in-game or happening upon the items through regular play. The store cuts out the middle man and maintains control through the game instead of outside sources. By setting a high price point, they encourage regular gameplay as the preferred means for most people to receive these items, but for the few people for whom the price point is not painful, they can still get money from.
Examine for a moment your own pain points. How much pain does not having these legendary items cause you? Does the pain of spending $100 on a virtual item get negated or overwhelmed by the comfort of having the item? If so, by all means SPEND. If it does not, DON'T SPEND. It's that simple. If an unacceptable amount of people spend on the item (which I guarantee you there are some people that will buy these items, even at their present price), then they will lower the price until an acceptable amount of people start spending, or remove the item altogether.
tobacco and alcohol and lmao, gluten, are still sold because almost a century ago this country found out the hard way what happens when you try to take away something that the public wants. the public still got it, and there really wasnt anything the government could do about it.
other than that, i agree with your post.

Atheism is a non-prophet institution.
Of all the responses here, this guy gets it. There is nothing P2W about paying $80ish to get a Legendary. It is the ultimate in convenience for someone who has money to buy. I would never buy one because I can't justify the cost of it plus other variables. If people want to support Trion in this fashion and keep the game going, more power to them. How many people complained about Tier 4 Lock boxes in the store that you can get a random Orange from as well but at lower % chance.
