    Maximizing points

So, with the new point system, we don't just have to shoot the bad guys, we have to shoot them with style.
This seems a little too meta to me, but at least it means that there's room to maximize things.

But for all the increased transparency in the system, there are still some things I don't quite understand. What I think I've figured out so far is this:
    • Opportunist points are based on how much damage you deal while the target is being affected by a nano-effect. So shooting things with a BMG thinking that points will tick faster shouldn't work very well.
    • Having your EGO power active when a target you've recently shot at dies gives you a Power Kill, even if you didn't land the kill shot. Similarly, you can get Nano Effect Kills without landing the kill shot.
    • When not grouped you can get Teamwork points from a particular enemy for a few seconds after you've stopped shooting at it. I do not know whether things work differently when in a group.

    Some questions I have:
    • Do multiple concurrent nano-effects increase Opportunist points?
    • Do the different kill bonuses (critical, power, melee and nano) stack?
    • Are Teamwork points based on damage, the way that Opportunist points are?
    • How do healing points work?

So far what I've been doing is that I use bio grenades on high HP enemies / groups of smaller mobs, to keep Opportunist points rolling. When a lot of enemies are present, I try to spray them all a bit to rack up some Teamwork, but then focus on high HP enemies to maximize Opportunist. I time my EGO power activation so that it's active when high value enemies die.

Is there anything inaccurate or wrong in my first list ? Does anyone know the answer to my questions ? Any other strategy to maximize points ?

I believe one of your questions is answered in the lie stream answers thread, teamwork points are based on every 500 points of damage you deal within 3-4 secs of someone else dealing damage (thereby having the possibility for huge amounts of extra points).

Based on what I have seen the power, nano, melee, and critical kills do not stack. I purposely watched for it all through a siege but there were also a lot of baddies, so I may have mistaken points from one kill for points from another.

My question involves the syphon nano. With the new scoring system it does very little to help your score thereby becomes almost worthless, unlike other nanos the syphon nano only effects the target once. This gives you very little chance to get opportunist points (it is possible), if you're by yourself (or in a relatively small group) it is almost a must to use some other nano if you want a good score. So I guess my question is, did trion implement this scoring system knowing that it made the syphon nano much less beneficial and if so why?

I think I'll put that in the live stream questions for this next week.

      Agreed.

I actually believe this is more of a "Power Assist" without a more descript name. I haven't done the maths, but I'm fairly certain you don't get full kill points, but you get more than assist so it's likely that it gives you an assist, and calculates Power/Melee/Critical/Nano kill bonuses off of that.

Pretty sure group has no effect on this whatsoever.

    Some questions I have:
    • Do multiple concurrent nano-effects increase Opportunist points?
I don't know. I don't think so, but don't quote me on it.
    • Do the different kill bonuses (critical, power, melee and nano) stack?
100% Yes. They are all the same bonus modifier and they all stack with each other. Each bonus adds another 2/11ths (little less than 20%) of the base kill score on top of it.
    • Are Teamwork points based on damage, the way that Opportunist points are?
Yup. Trick said something along the lines of teamwork being awarded for every 500 damage done to the enemy. He's not always too accurate with his information, but you can probably figure it's in this ballpark.
    • How do healing points work?
Medic points themselves are based on how much you've healed someone (10 per every x amount of healing, though I have no idea what X is. It might be 500 as well. How that works for being credited for assists/kills of the person you healed I'm not entirely sure.

Is there anything inaccurate or wrong in my first list ? Does anyone know the answer to my questions ? Any other strategy to maximize points ?
Overall it seems you have a pretty good grasp of things. Personally I just love the bonfire now, it's the quickest way I've found to give everything a nano effect. On low HP mobs, I've found that it's still better to kill them faster than to try to maximize points on individual mobs. That means spawn camping with boomers at inflicted sieges is still going to net tons of points. If you're the only one at the spawn camp however, I find shooting the spawn with a bonfire before blowing them up with a boomer is worth the second or so for the extra points.

In some cases where you are trying to maximize points, there are a multitude of other point gains to be on the lookout for. You get bonus points for making a tanker take a knee, lighting a smelter on fire (by fire or shooting it in the tank on its back), shooting a bulwark's launchers to make it reset, cracking open a hulker's skull, destroying a dark matter monitor's shield etc. I don't have a full list by any means, but if you're a veteran player you probably can guess what a lot of them might be.
    My comments/answers are in purple.

What's great about the rocket launcher is that the "crosshair" turns red about one second before the enemies are seen (depending on lag of course). So you know when to fire at the right moment. A couple of rockets from a fast launcher are enough to get kills.

Still... this has to be one of the worst moment of any event, gameplay wise. Spawn camping and trying to steal as much kills as you can. But we do have to find creative ways to make it worthwhile. :/

Yup, I wasn't commenting on the enjoyability of it, just its efficacy.

BMG can make most points, why? because "Opportunist points" no need to active nano effect by yourself, and if you put nano effect yourself you just helping your team mate gain more points but not you, so why not use a 8 link super BMG steal all other player's work to make yourself hitting the highest score?

And new system have coop points by everyone hitting to same target, same logic, 8 link super BMG gain most advantage.

and last if you gain too less kill points it's because you didn't EGO on, if you EGO power is in CD, use bonfire for cheap nano effect steal kills, no matter how many damage you done, nano effect kill=80% damge done by you's score.

So new system's weakest kill style is Grenade Launcher one hit kill , make everyone gain no coop points, but you also eliminate those score stealer.

Side note. I could swear the other day I was the bonus indicators pop up by my score (love seeing that btw) and saw BACKBREAKER pop up?? I dont recall seeing it before or since. Is this some rare combo bonus I never noticed before, or was I maybe playing a little too long and halucinating that night.

PS Halucinating is possible as that is the same night I had an OJ bolt action sniper drop from a Darkmatter Arkfall, and didn't notice till the next day.

That sounds like something you might get from the warmaster if you break the armor on his back. Did you happen to be doing the warmaster at the time?

Nope, it was open-world, I think it was a Hellbug major after I hit a Monarch.

I find that when I am in a group I get in the top 1-3 spots but if I run solo I'm around 5-9. Maybe this is coincidence or the type of weapons I am using, but usually I am sitting back with a Marksman rifle and popping off headshots on volge the moment they drop. I then follow up with my Volge V LMG Rifle (cant recall name now) when it gets close up.

I love these events though, so much fun when I don't crit out.
