If it were allowed, possibly. Most people don't understand how helpful torrents can be to help speed up data flow and instead focus on the fact that most pirated content go through torrents for ease of anonymity (think I spelled it right). I know similar things happened with Star Wars: The Old Republic and one user hosted torrents of the game files so that people would be able to actually play instead of dealing with a broken launcher, but Bioware saw this as hostile and were rather rude about the whole incident.

In terms of how "ego" works, which I reminds me of the Duke Nukem released last year or whatever, I want an explanation as to how it works instead of having players figure it out. Level systems were great because you knew what the max level was, what level you and your friends are, and could gauge your ability to do certain content and difficulty of content based on level. Obviously in MMOs there starts to become a gear requirement, but at least give players the ability to know that the content they are attempting to do is made for a specific "ego" range i.e. "Random Mission requires EGO 140" or whatever the case may be.

My point about BETA is the fact that people are making excuses for this game being this terrible at launch by saying we are playing BETA. If this was a BETA, I wouldn't have that big of a problem with it as a consumer, but I would still be a little peeved at it.

At the end of the day, this was obviously made as a console game, ported to PC, and is the worst PC port I have seen in a long time. You can't make the argument that leaving out graphics options is my "opinion of how the game should work". This is just the latest example of sheer laziness by the development team. I want to take this game seriously, I want to enjoy it, I want to learn more about the lore in the game even though the dialogue is painful, but it is impossible with the current state the game is in.
never played dark souls on PC i take it

Okay, you got a point and I completely forgot about that game on purpose because of how terrible the PC version was. Maybe they somehow thought it would be a good idea copy Dark Souls to make no PC options at all? At least you could turn on AntiAliasing on or off, which is more than Defiance has right now, though it does have the option to go High, Medium, Low, and Custom even though it doesn't tell you what it does.

If you are going to do the High, Medium, Low, and Custom settings, at least show what they do damn it. Metro 2033 had this setting and it told you exactly what was being increased, to what resolution and/or quality level. This game doesn't even have the decency to do that.

A lot of the things you mentioned *were* brought up in the alpha. I think the dev team was put in an impossible situation -- create a game across three platforms that must be finished before a TV show airs. And frankly, the emphasis was probably focused on the console games, where $60 isn't an unreasonable price (but a dying biz model in PC gaming).

Are you completely daft? There is no "impossible situation". Gameplay elements are probably impossible to change, but all I am asking and complaining about is the lack of any sort of PC options whatsoever. I don't give a damn about some excuse you pull up saying that it was focused on consoles because that is a moronic statement right there. How many major hyped up games out there, especially recent titles, that were ported from console to PC forgot to put graphics options in there? How many of them forgot that autoaim is something for console players and PC players know and hate it for being essentially a mild aimbot? Are you seriously suggesting that they somehow couldn't be bothered to add in sensible options for PC gamers to play the game? If the focus was on console, then why release it on PC? Your logic is flawed.

The price tag is not an issue. I am not complaining about spending $60 on a game for PC, that is not a problem for me. This "dying biz model in PC gaming" has earned Valve MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS of dollars for their digital distribution program. You cannot claim it is dying when Valve can report ridiculous sales numbers. In fact, Forbes reported last year that Valve has seen massive increases in overall profit and I quote from the article: "Valve announced last October that it was on track for its biggest year ever, with 200% year-over-year growth. It also said that it had grown more than 100% year-over-year for the past six consecutive years. (Valve reported these results for Steam, but in a follow-up interview, confirmed that the growth was generalizable to the entire company.)" That is more profitable per head than Google or Apple. The article is here.

I agree with everything you said. But as they were on a deadline to get it released by the time the tv series released they might have been a bit lazy on some things. Hopefully they get it fixed soon. And as for the 3 platform thing. They don't all have to be the same. The menus could be customized for each platform. Like he mentioned the analog style is more for a console as list style would be more for the PC. And the graphics thing is a BIG issue. I cant have the best graphics on my computer and i cant even lower them or customize them at ALL. Big issue. Hopefully they get this all fixed soon.

To a degree, I am completely fine with the menu system at launch and I do agree there may not have been time to make a menu for each system. To be fair, I can see the current system working very well on both consoles. I don't see a need to customize it for each console, I just see the need for the console menus to be different and completely separate from the PC menus. The whole feel of the UI and basic navigation is a massive chore.

Obviously they couldn't be bothered to add in sensible options for PC gamers -- sensible options we asked for in alpha testing -- or they would be in the game. Chalk it up to whatever reason you like...

Wow all i have to say is you hit everything on the nail that i am pissed about this game. They really dropped that ball and honestly should not have made this for pc unless they would have added pc options like WE ALL DESERVE. If i knew it would have been this bad and not even a port its basicly playing a 360 version with pc controls and thats it and that is REEEALLY fail.

Plus i would like to mention i have yet to see anyone of the dev's responding on this issue when its a huge issue. Being a pc gamer and a console gamer pc more than console the lack of love given to the pc is just sad you should have just made it for console if you are not gonna accommodate pc users they only cared about having a CONSOLE mmo and the fact that they had to rush before the show came out is another problem, a game should never be rushed and when it is this is the product of a rushed game with no love put into it just rushing to meet a deadline and that never makes a good game. So to end my rant of how dissapointed i am with this game Unless they really start reading the bad bad bad reviews from people on PC and fixing all these issues then trion has really dropped the ball and i wasted 100 bucks for nothing i even bought the season pass which i now regret.

Fix this game for pc please cause right now this game should not have even been released i have played better games in closed beta. IF trion makes the pc version how it should be then i will have no problems but if they don't address any of this i will not be playing and wish i would have used my money for something worth while. Ah ya i allmost forgot dosen't have to do with the pc but GOD is the ai horrible sometimes they don't even move or shoot its really bad this game plays and looks like it should have came out in 2000 not 2013 so when or if this game ever gets to a game that should be out in 2013 that would be nice.

As I stated before, I have no idea why this was released on the PC. I'm going to give them a couple days before getting a refund, this is ridiculous. I had no idea things were this bad in Alpha as well.
