im comparing mmo to mmo, comparing it to CoD or BF make no sense and even than they have better dlc support.. i wasnt expecting to say that of CoD ever..

And let's face it, for all it's flaws, that people stick around means it's not all dark and gloom. The latest changes are in my opinion working towards a better and more enjoyable game. The Devs could create more content, but without fixing the basics, how long would that keep you interested?

And with basics we have disconnects, the scoring system (i do think that got improved) and a host of other things. Most likely they'll pull a Diablo 3 on us, and release a patch 2.0 which overhauls most of the game mechanics. Much like they already said they would with different nano efficiencies etc... For all it's worth, if the diablo team could do it, Trion can do it.
Well the population dwindle overtime and we saw the numbers go down during the ESO and Wildstar beta, this could hurt their playerbase (even tho its their own fault).

I havent bought any of the DLC and I know that the only thing you really gain is being able to do the tasks for rep is the only thing that really matters. This is a f2p game, how do you except them to keep servers up it they just made everything free anyways. I think I will buy the new one though.

To drive investment in the game, you have to provide WHAT THE INVESTORS WANT. I'll rephrase just in case the people I'm focusing on missed it, "Provide content and changes that we the player base, supporters, investors want" This is about what we want, not what you want.

i like how they say they have plans for new content moving forward, which im thinking means they are planning a season 2 pass of wanting players to pay again for more updates since they had pretty much no content in the season 1 pass? here's hopeing that if they do reason a season 2 pass they actualy do put content in the dlc's to justify calling them dlc instead of what they really have been is just game patches.

i also find it funny that allot of people have asked what the actual content of update 5 with be for the people that buy it and they never seem to answer the question? i guess more of nothing like they gave us in the first 4 updates that for some unknown reason Trion deems it as dlc when there was no actual content in them?

    One thing is for sure.

I see your point Ned and I agree but the sad truth, it seems to me, is that they just do not have the creative resources necessary to do anything other than to mess with the code.
They do not have enough animators or artists or writers or anything else I haven't mentioned to come up with anything more than the less than spectacular DLCs they have put out so far.
So this upcoming glorified patch is just the best they can do. It makes me think that the reason for the grenades wasn't so much that it needed to be done, as much as it was something they could actually pull off, needed or not.
    It is what it is.

If only that were true, they would be fixing bugs then and not having to repeatedly patch their additions to the game.

It's funny because anytime a question is brought up on the live stream about adding content that would require them to hire an artist for new animations you can almost see Trick's *** cheeks pucker together. It's always the same answer that no they can't do that.

MMO to MMO is about as generic as black and white packaging in a grocery aisle. My comment still stands. You can't really compare shooter content updates with RPG content updates. They're not the same animal. Comparing Defiance to CoD or BF actually makes far more sense than comparing it to GW2. Both are TPS, as is Defiance. GW2 is not.

    MMO - Massively Multiplayer Online
TPS - Third Person Shooter (Defiance, CoD, BF)
RPG - Role Playing Game (Rift, GW2)

There's no such thing as an 'MMO' without having something else to go along with it, such as TPS, FPS, RTS, RPG, etc... Comparing 'MMO to MMO' is meaningless without some sort of context for the comparison. MMO simply means 'Massively Multiplayer Online'.

CoD and BF are not TPS, they are FPS all the way. Might seem the same but it`s not.
