    Defiance service is not available.

I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong spot or done incorrectly - this is actually my first time ever posting on a forum.

I have been trying to log into Defiance countless times since 8 am (PST) and keep getting the same error message as stated in the title. I have tried nearly everything I could find online, and nothing seems to work. I have completely uninstalled Defiance and re-installed through Steam and Trion, and it did not work. I have disabled AVG and firewall - nothing. I also tried three of the four suggestions on Trion's support page for this error message. I do knot know enough about computers to really understand the fourth suggestion involving ports, so I didn't try that one. I have also tried switching to EU, logging in, then switching back to US and logging in again. I've had no problems patching, and as far as I know, the patching completed properly as I am able to log in and load up the game, but I just keep getting to the "connecting to servers" part and getting the error message.

Many people online say that it is most likely just overload from people trying to log in, or servers undergoing maintenance, but every time I have tried to log in was before or after the stated maintenance times, and I also have friends who have been able to log in perfectly fine.

If it helps at all, I am running Windows 8 (64 bit).

Thanks in advance for any help!

    **SOLVED**

Downloading VPN - hotspotshield - worked perfectly for me. I just downloaded the program, turned it on, and I was able to log in after the maintenance. I suppose it's possible that the maintenance could have fixed the problem - didn't test it without hotspotshield turned on - but as far as I can tell, the VPN solution worked.

    Same issue as you

I am in exactly the same boat as you, I also am running windows 8 64bit. I have the same problem and have tried all suggested solutions and even some solutions that were recommended to me that weren't even suggested for this game. Unfortunately I spent $100 for the digital deluxe version, and if I am not in by tomorrow i'm asking for a refund or Ill file a lawsuit if I am not given my money back. I understand that MMO's have problems in launch, but that is no excuse to take my money and leave me hanging, while my brother who bought the 60 buck version has been playing all day.

I'm having the same problem. PC player here. Windows 7 64Bit. I too have tried the first 3 options, and am having an identical problem. The game boots, but upon attempting to connect to servers, I get service unavailable. I've tried logging in roughly 15 times over the course of the last 11 hours. I've been diligently following Twitter, and the forums, but it seems like Trion support is nowhere in sight. Frankly if I'm not in in the next hour (ie: 24 hours after release) I too am asking for a refund. I have been an avid PC gamer for years, and fully understand what goes into a game's launch. I recognize server issues, and have no problem dealing with complications. My issue is that Trion support said something like "woohoo, servers back online" roughly 6 hours ago. That was the only thing they've said. Not one tech or support staff member has addressed this issue we are having. It seems that they are just worried about the masses right now, which I can understand, but someone somewhere in the company should be on the forums right now talking to us. I know a major company like Trion has to have at least one intern staying late today, so where are they. If they came out and said "Hey guys, we recognize the problem you're having, and do not have an estimated time on a fix." I'd be like "ok, fine." I'd ignore the game until a solution was found, and I'd be a happy camper. The fact that they are seemingly leaving us in the dark, however, has me wanting my money back. I don't have time to play MMO's anymore anyway, and bought this game almost solely to support the efforts of a company attempting to innovate and further the genre. Essentially I bought the game from a moral standpoint, not a desire to play. This has me even more bummed out that I'm not getting support from a company I decided to support just for the sake of supporting.

I agree. It feels a bit like we are non-existent. I've hardly found anyone else online with a similar problem, and certainly no official responses or solutions to this problem that seem to work or even address this problem at all. I've sent in a ticket and was going to try live chat, except all support pages weren't working for some reason, and when they finally came back, it was 7 minutes past closing time for live chat. It's quite frustrating and also confusing, because it seems there are hardly any people in a similar situation, which would leave me to believe the problem must be on my end, but I've tried practically everything I could think of or find online.

I wish they would at least acknowledge the problem. As far as I've seen, they haven't.

    Not working

I had my brother try to log into my account from his computer (he lives 2 hours away) and he was able to login to my account and even create a character. So its not my account being blocked per se. It seems to be communication from their servers to my computer. As if their servers aren't sending information when my network is requesting it. Just in case this helps, I am connected to the internet through Comcast xfinity high speed cable internet. And the cable modem/router is made by SMC. Just to see if we all have something in common. Also I have the Xtreme connection 65mbps DL speeds. so its definitely not my connection.

ACK! I have the exact same router and connection! We might be on to something.

EDIT: Also they just hit us on Twitter with an acknowledgement that for some people this launch has been a **** show, so my temper is calmed a little. All I wanted was some recognition and we got it. But yeah, our issue might be our routers as I said before.
