    Patch 1.500 - Draft Notes!

    These notes are extremely raw, and are subject to both changes and additions.

    Any note marked with a * has been recently added or updated.

    Defiance 1.5 – Arktech Revolution DLC


    Paid Features:
    • One Chimera Arktech Kit containing:
      • 1000 Arkforge
      • The "Arktech Revolutionary" title
      • The "Chimera Ark Hunter" outfit
    • Access to the Chimera daily contracts which reward Caeruleum Cores for completing expert tier co-op maps
      • Additionally, Caeruleum Cores can be acquired in lesser numbers from weekly Paradise contracts
    • Access to the Chimera vendor, which offers a unique line of legendary weapons and legendary mods purchased using Caeruleum Cores.
    • The Chimera mod synergy.
    • Six new pursuits offering unique titles and EGO rating increases that reward three pieces of legendary equipment:
      • The Chimera Claw (shield).
      • The Chimera Horn (rocket launcher).
      • The Chimera Fang (charge blade).
    • Access to 15 new perks for ark hunters who choose to join Chimera in the Arktech Revolution:
      • Conflagration: Increases damage to health from your incendiary attacks.
      • Flash Point: Increases damage to shields from your incendiary attacks.
      • Heat Shield: Reduces incoming damage from incendiary attacks.
      • Corrosion: Increases damage to armor from your bio attacks.
      • Virulent: Increases armor penetration from your bio attacks.
      • Immunized: Reduces incoming damage from bio attacks.
      • Bloodsucker: Increases health and shield damage stolen from your syphon attacks.
      • Deadly Apparition: Increases damage from your syphon attacks.
      • Strong Soul: Reduces incoming damage from syphon attacks.
      • Live Wire: Increases damage to shields from your electric attacks.
      • Electrical Fire: Increases damage to health from your electric attacks.
      • Grounded: Reduces incoming damage from electric attacks.
      • Gamma Rays: Increases armor penetration from your radiation attacks.
      • Radiation Burns: Increases damage from your radiation attacks.
      • Lead Lined: Reduces incoming damage from radiation attacks.


    Free Features:
    • Enemies now scale in difficulty. "Elites" as a designation for all mobs no longer exist, and instead, different types of mobs have different prefixes depending on their difficulty tier:
      • Hellbugs, Scrappers, Infected
        • Adapted, Superior, Evolved, Apex
      • Mutants, Raiders, Dark Matter
        • Experienced, Veteran, Hardened, Formidable
      • Volge, 99ers
        • Reinforced, Enhanced, Augmented, Ark
    • Ark hunters now have access to armor plates!*
      • There are two types of armor: normal armor plates, which are a function of shields, and ablative armor plates, which are added by a variety of perks, stims, and other effects.
      • Regardless of the source, all armor behaves in the same way: each displayed plate provides an additive 10% damage reduction.
        • For example: If a target has 5 plates, then the damage done to them will be reduced by 50%.
      • All plates can only withstand so much damage before they break.
      • Biological damage corrodes armor, and breaks plates considerably faster than other forms of damage.
      • Radiation damage is special in that it bypasses a certain amount of armor-based damage resistance.
      • Armor plates from shields can be repaired by visiting any armor repair station, or by using an armor repair stim.
      • Ablative armor cannot be repaired.
      • Only the highest value of ablative armor granted by all effects applies to an Ark hunter at any given time.
        • For example: an Ark hunter has two plates of ablative armor granted by a perk.
        • They then walk into a protection spike, which grants three plates of ablative armor.
        • The Ark hunter will only have three plates and not five.
      • Armor plates of both varieties do stack.
        • For example: An Ark hunter has a Legendary ironclad shield with 3 plates.
        • They walk into a protection spike aura, that provides 3 plates.
        • That Ark hunter would then have 6 plates total, and thus 60% damage mitigation while they remain in that aura.
      • To augment the above:
        • Armor repair stations have appeared all over the bay area! Travel to any fast travel point to find a station.
        • Two new stims have been added: armor repair and ablative armor.
        • Armor stims that can grant temporary armor or restore your non-temporary armor have been added. *
        • Protection spikes have been adjusted. They now provide ablative armor. Also, blue protection spike are now less ludicrous.


    Game Updates:
    • Weapons in your inventory and equipped weapons that are less than 75% of your current ego rating will be upgraded to 75% of your current ego rating. Weapons in your claimables will *NOT* be upgraded. *
    • Ark hunters in competitive multiplayer maps now drop spike, stim, and grenade charges rather than specific consumables.*
    • A number of perks have been rebalanced to match new armor and scaling mechanics:
      • Trait: Detachment – Now adds between 1 and 3 plates of ablative armor.
      • Trait: Juggernaut – Now adds between 2 and 4 plates of ablative armor.
      • Trait: Thick Skinned – Now adds 4 plates of ablative armor for a 1 to 3 second duration, depending on perk points.*
      • Trait: Time Out – Added 15 second cooldown.
      • Trait: In the Trenches – Drastically reduced effectiveness.
      • Trait: Fortitude – Changed to a percent of health rather than a flat number.
      • Trait: Rear Guard – Drastically reduced effectiveness.
    • Replaced Reset Weapon Mastery XP with Reroll Weapon Mastery bonus.
    • Players now gain weapon skill when using mastered weapons.
    • Added Upgrade rating to salvage matrix.
    • Personal and group boosts are now play time based instead of absolute time based. Clan boosts are still absolute time based. Any previously bought absolute time based boosts will still work.
    • Vendor changes:
      • Removed Vendors from Eastshore Docks (There was no Fast Travel there).
      • Paradise Vendor is now located at Iron Demon Ranch with easy access via Fast Travel.
      • Chimera Vendor (new for DLC5) is located at Headland Transit Depot, it is in place of the Mod Vendor that was there.
      • Legendary weapons are available to purchase from the Chimera Vendor for 10 Chimera rep, 20 Caeruleum Cores, and 1,000 scrip. *
    • The Epic Mod Hoard has been removed from the Paradise Territories Vendor.*
    • The Warmaster has been updated to challenge even high-rating ark hunters.
    • Teamwork points can now be gained from damaging shields.
    • Destroyed turrets no longer grant Opportunist points.
    • The game now displays "Teamwork Max" or "Opportunist Max" if the points cap is reached.
    • The following lockboxes now drop a grenade, spike or stim in addition to their current contents:*

    Bug Fixes:
    • Fixed an issue that could prevent players from swapping from a loadout with only one weapon equipped.
    • Self-immolation is no longer an effective way to raise your score.
    • Descriptions for Stims and Spikes now detail the number values of their effects.
    • Optimized the way characters are loaded to improve performance.
    • Fixed a potential client crash when looting items.
    • Fixed some common client crashes.
    • Fix for being disconnected after you create a new character and get through the tutorial.
    • Fixed a case where clan key bonuses would not apply.
    • The Sludge rocket launcher now properly grants points for Opportunist.
    • Fixed a case causing female "The General" outfit to show up black to other players.
    • Fixed a case where getting a kill with explosive damage would sometimes show melee as the score kill bonus.
    • Chat does not automatically switch to Team on entry to an Arkbreak, though area and zone chat are not available within.
    • Contracts now properly display all rewards given.
    • Arenas now have their own tab on the matchmaking screen.
    • Fixed the incorrect menu display of Bug DMG for Infectors.*

    • Fixed a bug that was causing Radiation damage to not do any extra armor penetration.
    • Players must have completed the Gunslinger Trials quest for each arena before they can use the Group Finder for it.
    • Grenade damage now scales off the player's current Ego rating.
    • Fixed a bug that was preventing some Detonators from scaling off of Ego rating.
    • Health regeneration now scales based off a percentage of the player's max health.
    • The Warmaster locks now scale.
    • The Paying the Piper instance now scales EREP soldiers.
    • The tutorial mobs no longer have armor.

    Alpha Only Notes
    • Fixed a bug causing Apex Monarchs and Apex Hellbugs to go missing.
    • Co-op Episode 2: Paying the Piper can now be completed on Hard and Expert difficulties.
    • The heal component of protection spikes is now percentage based.
    • Fixed Shield Boost Spike to raise max shields by a percent.
    • Fixed Spikes to have increased health with scaling.
    • Fixed Infector Bugs to have increased health with scaling.
    • Fixed Damage over Time not scaling.
    • Fixed Infector DoT not respecting the weapon’s power rating.
    • Advanced and Expert missions now have a chance to drop epics.
    • Expert Missions will no longer drop uncommons.
    • Fixed Hatching Grenades showing 0 for Bug Dmg and Bug Health.
    • Fixed the inventory menu display to reflect the weapon’s power rating for damage of Infectors, BMGs, Detonators and Pyro Grenades.
    • The Paradise vendor in Iron Demon Ranch is now where the vehicle vendor used to be. The Vehicle vendor that used to be in Iron Demon Ranch no longer exists!
    • Fixed a bug that would cause stim consumable charges to not work.
    • Hit location HP now properly scales when threat levels escalate. Note: Some instance bosses may still be scaling incorrectly.
    • Sieges now be properly remove threat level buffs when they end.
    • Instances with a pre-defined threat level no longer have random enemies who are too high or too low.
    • Enemies in sieges now scale properly.
    • Special weapons now scale properly.
    • Decoy no longer contributes to threat scale calculations.
    • Threat level indicators in instances now show the proper static threat level.

    Alpha Only Notes
    • Fixed scaled up players being more powerful than players naturally at the same level.
    • Increased the required number of players to increase the threat level of dynamic events.
    • A long duration Ablative Armor no longer gets wiped when a short-duration Ablative Armor is added. It doesn’t stack, it just uses whichever one is currently best.
    • Fixed an issue where some Extra Life shields did not have the proper stats on Alpha.
    • Fixed an issue where open world encounters would reach high threat ratings without buffing the nearby players. Wandering and ambient enemies no longer scale unless they are part of an encounter with a displayed encounter HUD.
