why smg share ammo pool with ar's and lmg's?

It seems completely irrational and very frustrating for SMG to share an ammo pool with Ar and lmg. Is it to balance the game? Is it not possible to creates different ammo type? Did Trion not have enough time to create a different ammo pool for said guns? Regardless of the answer I would like to know if we can expect that to ever change. Please feel free to chime in if I'm compltely nuts here.

Each weapon should have a separate pool based on their types. No idea why they shared ammo between them.

If I remember correctly, some real-world assault rifles and LMGs do have a common ammunition type, so this part is justified ingame... however, the bit where the SMGs share it as well is not; those should use pistol ammo.

It's probably because everyone would use an SMG over a Pistol if they used the same ammo. But, right now, you either pick SMG, AR, HMG, and then pistol on one load out. Then have your second load out be all the explody things. That's why it's done like this.

All do, its only when you start moving to heavier equipment like .50 cal and 20 mm that they use ammunition not found in personal weapons. NATO began standardizing ammo types across countries post WW 2 to cut down on the number of different stores they have to ship about. In the same vein eventually all vehicles and aircraft used by British forces will use Avtur (aviation turbine fuel) as its very similar to diesel, and normal diesel engines require little conversion to use it.

just a comp adjust for compression and exahust

but he is right for weap ammo cross platform. 5.56/7.62 etc can stitch from snipe to lmg to Ar so a smg was lumped in for balance

there are plenty of sub machine guns that use rifle rounds HK MP7 FN P90 sig sauer 556 pistol the even the five seven handgun uses 5.7x28 which is a rifle round. most of the newer ones do use rifle rounds and 9mm-.45 sub machine guns are becoming obsolete so it makes perfect sense for them to share rounds. besides this is in the future and you would probably want bullet compatability in a post apocalyptic type world beside what are you using an assault rifle and smg combo for???
