why smg share ammo pool with ar's and lmg's?

I wouldn't call the 5.7x28 a rifle round. Its too small to make it a proper full size rifle bullet and not enough powder behind it to take it to longer ranges . Even the 5.56x45 isn't really a true full size rifle round (I think the P556 Pistol mentioned fires it), its a sub caliber rifle round that was made to be lighter so you could carry more and smaller to increase penetration. The MP7 and P90 are NOT sub machine guns, there personal defense weapons (PDW) which is a compact semi-automatic or fully automatic firearm (the P556 Pistol fits in there fairly well) similar to a submachine gun, but firing a smaller sub caliber rifle round, giving a PDW better range, accuracy and armor-penetrating capability than submachine guns, which fire pistol caliber rounds. They all have there place. .45ACP has really good stopping power but less pen. then the 9mm and a lot less then the PDW's.

Bump, this was a terrible decision, making so many weapon types share ammo.

Im ok with the AR and LMG but not ok with the SMG. IF the make it a PDW I will just have to deal but until then I'm just going to pout.

Dos anyone know what the 7th ammo type is? After explosives?

SMGs should use pistol ammo tbh. it's annoying that SMGs share ammo with LMGs since they eat through your reserves. I use LMGs in pve and my seconary is usually a rocket launcher or shotgun because anything else and my ammo is gone.

True usrevenge2 but you would need to be able to carry a hell of a lot more pistol ammo to feed those hungry pigs. And they would need to increase SMG damage a lot or nerf pistols a lot for the math to add up.
