    • EGO Rating Cap Increased
      • While you've been hunting and modding the finest extraterrestrial equipment arkfalls can provide, your EGO has been working on upgrades of its own. You can now go above EGO rating 5000!
    • EGO Rating Progression
      • For ark hunters, a higher EGO rating now imparts a much larger effect on damage, health, and shield capacity.
      • Similarly, the damage output of weapons will now scale based on their power rating.
    • Ego Rating Boost
      • All weapons in your ark hunter's inventory or loadouts will be upgraded to 75% of your current EGO rating, if they are less than 75% of your current EGO rating.
      • Weapons in your claimables will NOT be upgraded.

    • New Enemy Difficulty Tiers
      • New enemy difficulty tiers featuring enhanced abilities and updated designs have been introduced!
      • Additionally, the difference between standard and elite enemies is now more pronounced.
      • Now that enemies scale in difficulty, "elites" as a designation for all mobs no longer exists. Instead, different types of mobs have different prefixes depending on their difficulty tier:
        • Hellbugs, Scrappers, Infected
          • Adapted, Superior, Evolved, Apex
        • Mutants, Raiders, Dark Matter
          • Experienced, Veteran, Hardened, Formidable
        • Volge, 99ers
          • Reinforced, Enhanced, Augmented, Ark
    • Expert Co-Op Maps
      • Team up with your fellow ark hunters to tackle new expert versions of all co-op maps featuring the new enemy difficulty tiers!
    • Dynamic Event Scaling
      • Events will now dynamically adjust their difficulty based on the players participating in or joining them.
      • Low EGO rating players will be able to stand in fights with these high-level foes by means of a special temporary buff!

    • Damage Type Overhaul
      • Defiance's weapons damage types are getting a major overhaul to increase their impact on gameplay.
    • Introducing Armor Plates
      • Ark hunters now have access to two types of armor!
        1. Normal armor plates, which are a function of shields.
        2. Ablative armor plates, which are added by a variety of perks, stims, and other effects.
      • Regardless of the source, all armor behaves in the same way: each displayed plate provides an additive 10% damage reduction.
        • For example: If a target has 5 plates, then the damage done to them will be reduced by 50%.
      • All plates can only withstand so much damage before they break.
      • Biological damage corrodes armor, and breaks plates considerably faster than other forms of damage.
      • Radiation damage is special in that it bypasses a certain amount of armor-based damage resistance.
      • Armor plates from shields can be repaired by visiting any armor repair station, or by using an armor repair stim. Ablative armor cannot be repaired.
      • Only the highest value of ablative armor granted by any effect applies to an ark hunter at any given time.
        • For example: an ark hunter has 2 plates of ablative armor granted by a perk.
        • They then walk into a protection spike, which grants 3 plates of ablative armor.
        • The ark hunter will only have 3 plates, and not 5.
      • However, both varieties of armor plates stack together!
        • For example: An ark hunter with a Legendary ironclad shield (3 plates) walking into a protection spike aura (3 spikes) results in a total of 6 plates, which means that ark hunter gets 60% damage mitigation as long as they remain in that aura.
    • Universal Grenade, Spike, and Stim Charges
      • Enemies now drop universal consumables (called "charges") of each type that refill one use of the specificied item type in your current loadout. Can’t carry any more of that item? Don’t fret: you’ll automatically salvage any excess charges upon picking it up.
