Just throwing my voice in there- the experience for new characters (and therefore potentially new players) is absolutely broken. It makes an awful impression. To be honest, I'm not sure what the patch was really attempting to do. The only people who don't seem to mind are the Ego Level 5000+ players, which isn't a good way to build the player base. And not all of those high level players like it either.

On another note, what on earth is the point of making the majority of weapons useless? And 10% per shield is far too much of a reduction. It should be no more than 5%, and personally I think 3% would be appropriate. That alone would help with the fact that only one type of weapon is viable at less than max level play.

I had fun playing this game with my friends, but because of the patch, they all quit playing defiance. Man... just like that, 13 of my friends quit playing the game and I'm just going to need to stop playing this game until it's fixed since it's impossible to do anything now.

I spent 2 hours on a main mission just because it took all my ammo in my auto-sniper to do 1/10 dmg on an just the basic minion. I didn't even complete it. I just log out. This experiences pretty much makes me want to quit the game all together. However, I'm just hoping the devs will do something about this...

Do you think this issue will be resolves?
The scaling system is way to glitchy and unreliable.

They may be circling the PR wagons at this point. If they say anything less than "we are reverting the patch," everyone who hates the new DLC will not be satisfied. If they say anything to indicate that they are toning down the difficulty, the hardcore people who have been QQing for a year will be up in arms. They are currently in a no-win situation.

As for ArcheAge, we may be relatively safe - Trion is just the NA publisher. The game is actually an Eastern Market developed project that they are porting over, so they may not have too much developer input into the game itself. I am not giving up on Trion altogether. They hit a home run with the F2P transition in Rift, and now that I am no longer playing Defiance, will have more time to dedicate to that game. I have also been enjoying tooling around in Trove, but the jury is still out on how much time that will suck away from me. On the down side, they pretty much did to Defiance what they did to kill End of Nations, so it's 50/50 on any other projects they put out at this point in time.

In regards to the major arkbreak, tactics. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that when the Ark Viscera spawned, everyone tried to kill it instead of killing bombers and troopers first. So, you get camped a little bit. Big deal. Once you're done being camped, try playing like you have the ability to learn from your mistakes. Take the high ground and show some killer instinct.
Umm, when I went in an arkbreak, it was grenade spam grenade spam, ground splitter spam ground splitter spam by the troopers... Then the bombers did seeker bomb spam seeker bomb spam and knockdown bomb spam... I hardly found the vicera to be an issue because the troopers and bombers were doing the work for him... So please, play in an arkbreaker first before you post, thank you...

That's the biggest issue. The Viscera is a cake walk compared to the grenades and bombers. You have NO cover system in place to regain health/shield and a limited amount of stims. I don't want to lose all my grenades/stims/armor before I enter the lower chamber. You already lose enough on the outside. At least there you can roll and find cover. The upper level is a pit of death and extracting unless you are lucky enough to have a full group that isn't critting out.

I enjoy the new difficulty however what I don't enjoy is the fact that the Volge in arkbreaks now spawn camp and every little action you do that involves fast travel, entering minor/major arkbreaks or matchmaking ends up kicking you off the server.

    no fun

Have to agree with the majority, this patch took all the fun out of the game. constantly getting 1 hit killed, just because a higher level player is around is not a lot of fun and why play a game that isn't fun?
I guess the devs designed the new game just for 5000+ ego players.. oh well.. good luck with that.

I'll keep an eye on the forums, but otherwise /wave

I'm not sure what else they can do. For those of you who weren't on the Alpha server, they ran into a lot of these problems during testing. They responded, at the time, by turning of EGO scaling in conflict sites and emergencies. At which point high-EGO players were just ROFL-stomping them, one-hit killing everything. So those are now the only two choices they've shown that they have: make everything stupidly hard or make everything stupidly easy.

We also pointed out to them, repeatedly, on the Alpha forum that the armor plate system created stupidly narrow builds, that it by design invalidated all weapons except those with bio or maybe fire damage type. They reassured us that the numbers we were seeing weren't final -- but those are the numbers they shipped it with. this thread from the Alpha forum has Tekrunner's experimental results that show what the actual damage modifiers are -- and they're brutal, especially if you assume an additional 40% damage resistance (for every non-bio weapon) from average armor plate levels.

That's the thing. It's not for us 5000+ players either. I logged in to the new world and immediatly had no fun winning a major bug arkfall. It was just waaaaaaaay more tedious. I then went to a Dark Matter arkfall and came in a narrow second. TE-DI-OUS. The volge siege I won shortly after that appears to be bugged because the volge were wimps. Then I won a major arkbreak (That we failed to barely even hurt the WM) and was so bored doing it that I almost logged off in the middle. It's not for me and my 5176 EGO either.

The armor plate system is just stupid. Mainly because it's invisible. Seriously? Where are my armor plates? They could have made the 30 suits of armor in my inventory count for something like this, maybe with a cost to my movement speed or something to balance it with players who don't want to wear armor. And I didn't want narrower builds and more bullet sponging plain old same as before bad guys.
